    Bold Prediction for tonight

    Jude Bolton BOG

Ok, now I'm going to put on some body armour and brace myself for the return fire.

Adam Goodes still missing, but getting better.

    Barry Hall 4 goals
    Nick Davis 3 goals

Not so crazy - wet ground, most disposal crap, J Bolton is best placed to take advantage and his crap disposal not noticed!

Tell me conditions and I will tell you how it will play out.

Wet ball = Hall won't be able to take enough marks for four goals.
kirk will probably get BOG. Goodes will play well as long as he doesn't try and do it all himself every time.

Maybe not such a good prediction - two poor disposals and one fumble already...

Then again - he finally kicked a set shot goal!!

                  Votes on SEN were

                  3 Kirk
                  2 J Bolton
                  1 Hall

Now Jude got his hands on the footy a bit but as NMW said, disposal very so, so. I watched him closely and really if he had more than a few effective disposals I'll go hee. Granted he worked a lot harder this week, but just scrapped a bit more often.

You just wonder what some of these commentators look at. No mention was made of Malceski. He was outstanding. Kirky got a lot of the footy and worked super hard all night, but he wasn't better than Mal.

Jude Bolton, along with Kirk, was fantastic in the engine room tonight. The point is that in most cases where he gets his hands on the pill, it doesn't matter that his kicking isn't Chris Judd's or Nick Malceski's. Where he gets the ball is low, hard and contested, where anything that takes your team forward is a good result. He has to take a Melbourne midfielder, and ensure that he gets to the ball and the other guy doesn't. He does it extremely well (at least when he's playing like tonight); on a small ground on a wet night, if you get the ball rolling your way, that's half the battle.

Jude Bolton will never be all things to all people, and he'll certainly never be a specialist forward of note. But what he does is tough, unglamorous, crucial for the team, and most of the time he does it really, really effectively.

I thought Kirk was BOG but eski was close behind. A lot of Kirks work in close was outstanding.

I disagree. A lot of his possessions don't really clear the scrimmage, go to a player already in trouble, go to the opposition, or go into no-man's land.

It's interesting to compare Bolton in close with Kirk or Buchanan, or even Schmidt tonight.

Krik & J Bolton were great tonight, conditions and style of game suited them to a T.

Hall was very dangerous early, but had to contend with 2 or 3 opponents after 1/4 time.

I thought Leo Barry's game was very good tonight, his one on one work was outstanding and he provided plenty of run with Eski off the half back line.

Quite often his rushed kicks that do clear the scrimmage (nice term) go square anyway. He goes hard, granted, he just does not give us much (other than a thread or three a week!).

Lets not forget how injury depleted Melbourne was and I still have the opinion Bolton rarely plays any good against good sides.

Wait till we play a top side and see what he does.
