    3rd

Hard to believe with all the doom and gloom about the swans over the start of the season, that we are currently sitting 3rd on the ladder, and will probably hold it for the rest of the week if Freo beat Adelaide in Perth.

Yep, having disposed of powerhouses Richmond (0 wins) and Melbourne (0 wins) for 2 of our 3 victories I cannot fathom how anyone could be critical of the way we have played against other September contenders... Ladder position (while it is better to be 3rd than 12th) doesn't really mean much. I too think we have looked less than flash over the first 5 weeks, bit I think that we have looked a lot better than the first 5 weeks of 05 or 06 - so I'm pretty happy overall.

Also depends on how games go today - we will be anywhere between 3rd and 6th (incl.).

I think we're better placed than 2005 but I'm not sure about 2006.

It's amazing that we could be in third at the end of this round, I haven't been impressed at all with our start.

We could have even been 5-0, if we had started our run against WCE 5 minutes earlier and kicked straight against the Crows (I think an undefeated run to open a season would have probably shocked us all too much though )

Has to be a worry for the rest of the comp that West Coast and Sydney are up there so early, I don't think either team has really turned it on yet.

we havent been that bad is the thing, could of won both the games we lost. Im not saying we have been near our best but we have given ourselves a good platform for our traditional 2nd half of the year

Got to be happy with 3rd ATM but our @@@@ kicking in the first 4 games couldcome back to bite us on the arse.In reality we should be 5-0 but hey @@@@ happens, over all considering our gun players have been so-so we are doing pretty good.

Collectively as a team we have started better this year than any of the previous Roos era years.

Individually we have a number of players down on form who will only get better.

We have a couple more injuries at present than usual but none of them are long term, except maybe LRT.

I am slightly worried about our pace at present (especially with Kennelly gone for maybe a couple), we need a couple of line breakers.

I think the team is cherry ripe to add one or two more youngster who have a bit of pace and just to add a bit more spark to the team, such as Laidlaw. If he could force his way into the team, play some good footy and carry the ball we will be a much better side.

With the Kangaroos looking like winners and if Freo beat Adelaide, we will only be 1 win ahead of the team in 14th. So I don't read anything into being 3rd at the moment.

At least we have a decent percentage - best we've had under Roos at this stage.

Apart from winning, gaining percentage is important if we are to win back the premiership this year. It certainly was the difference between playing a Grand Final and being eliminated in the first week of Finals last year.

3rd appears to be ours for the week after freo's exciting win over the crows

Go Freo, Pipped the Crows by a point.

                        3rd is ours.

On the contrary. We have disposed of Richmonds and Melbournes of the world, and only lost to last years No.1 and No.2 teams from the H&A season. Both of those games, especially WC, we could easily have won.

While 4-1 would be a better indicator of our form, 3-2 with good % is good enough. I think its going to be a very close season.

Were did we sit same time in 05 and 06? and how many games behind did we fall at this stage from say the top 4 or 6?

I know we weren't going great guns, but how much ground did we lose?

                              Round 5:

                              2007 - Sydney 3 wins, 2 losses, 122.02%, 3rd place
                              2006 - Sydney 2 wins, 3 losses, 93.83%, 9th place
                              2005 - Sydney 2 wins, 3 losses, 93.29%, 10th place

We've started better than the previous two years but injuries might come back to haunt us toward the end of the season.
