    ablett

Thought (considering his injury) his game was one of the few positives of tonights game. Gave us a decent effort at the very least.

Here here. My votes for BOG. One of the few that played 4 qtrs of footy. Thought he was gone for a couple of weeks and closed my eyes when he marked on his knees in Q1 (think he did too) and he went on and went hard.
Oh yes - and NOT ONE HOLDING THE BALL free against.

Yep pretty good considering he might not have even played.

There were numerous times in the first half where only Ablett and Fosdike were trying to do anything to get the ball moving out of the centre.

Disagrre with the lot of you. See my post in another thread. Gave us nothing and gathered junk possessions. 13 of 17 were uncontested possessions says he wasn't at the contests where a midfielder is supposed to be.

felt he tried to turn the tide of the game, had a lot of possessions in a row at one stage and kept putting his body in, dont think he was playing in a traditional midfielder role. felt he gave us more than kirk and j.bolton for starters

He lifted his game in the 2nd qtr. one of the few who did. Faded again in the 2nd half. But I lead hard a few times in the 2nd and took some good grabs, when no one else was moving.

I don't know what your definiton of an uncontested possession is, but from where we were sitting, coming out of the pack with the ball would appear to be a contested possession, and he had more than 4 of those. The other possibility could be that he got away from his man, so some possessions were uncontested.

FWIW most Swans people around us thought that Ablett and Fosdike were the only ones moving at times as well. We were sitting on the HFF level three at the Lockett endopposite the scoreboard, so that may have helped us with seeing what was going on all over the ground.

                    That is exactly why we are 3 & 3 and not 5 & 1.

You call them junk possession but these outside, pacey midfielders who carry the ball and then execute to space for the forwards are exactly why we are not better positioned.

Yes you need your inside guys who can win contested football, but at this stage we have an imbalance of these types of players.

In order for us to progress we are going to need players like Ablett, Fosdike, McVeigh. Malceski etc to stand up be these types of players.

Fosdike is our only outside midfielder. Yes - we desperately need more.

We could use either Melcho or Kennelly.

He is not a pacy outside midfielder. My point was that he wasn't at the contests last night. I dont question his courage etc. but got rubbish kicks across the back line and I dont think his was fit enough. I am pretty sure he did not have his usual tagging role.

                              Who was on Simpson?

I think Kirk might have been for some of the game, but I also think he was playing on Harris for quite a while. By a combination of a process of elimination and some memory (without going back to look at the tape) I'm pretty sure Ablett was taking care of Simpson.

If so, you'd have to say they pretty much broke even - similar stats and similar impact on the game.
