13 is our minimum. Only the second time since 2004 we've lost when kicking 13 or more goals (which we've done 32 times).
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."
The other big "miss" was from Goodes in the last qtr. Too casually failed to pick up the ball, while running towards goal, when we were only 4(?) points down. The Roos rebounded and goaled. I thought that was a very disappointing effort from Goodes, given the hard work and determination shown by his teammates to get it back into the F50 in the first place.
It was suggested elsewhere that he pulled out of that contest.
So our defence was up the pooper then? or was it our midfield?
BTW IMO if we had of kicked straight in the first qtr i think the game would have been entirely different.
Was the midfield mostly. Defence couldn't really do much with so little pressure further up the ground.
And don't really agree that our goal kicking in the first quarter was the major issue. It was against the Crows but not last night. From memory, the only absolute definite should-be goal that was missed was Jude's. A couple of other behinds were speculative kicks close to the boundary line from Fosdike and a shot from Goodes that was probably just over his distance.

The Roos slotted a few bewtys in from the boundary line unlike us.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

They also missed some gimmes.
Overall they had four more scoring shots than we did - two more goals and two more behinds. Inaccuracy has cost games in the past but it was an incidental factor last night. Indeed the kicking for goal from set shots was pretty good, even allowing for Spida marks saving a couple of would-be behinds.

Gday finally surfaced from my burrow and found the site lol
To the ppl i met and hung around last night thanks was a pleasure meeting you sorry for been quiet but sure yas all understand.
now re the thread think North will surprise a lot of people this year they were switched on right from the start and had a red hot go as for our lads was proud they fought it out way they did when most other teams would have just capitulated.
As for Hally i am starting to wonder about his eyesight under lights and been affected by them regardless of reasons , what i do know is each player tries their guts out and the great thing about our team is they never say die.
Some games you just have a bad one and is what feel happened last night against the roos thought Jack showed a lot maturity for a kid in his first game and feel if he keeps same endeavour will be quite an exciting prospect keep blooding the kids is what I like to see
Have a great one all
Cheers

Agree. And they were s-l-o-w. Add in that our back six is unsettled atm , missing regulars like Tadhg, LRT and Dempster.
And (here's a startling thought) perhaps Laidley is a better coach than people have given him credit for, seeing the bunch of spare parts he has at his disposal.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
www.Warm Welcome Wombat. Your enthusiasm is admirable but I think we're used to the team never letting other teams get right away from them - but they did last night. Hence the criticism. And the Roos always turn up to play against us - and it's disappointing that we seemed to think we could coast to a win (either that or we didn't care if we won or lost).
In the 1st qtr the score was 7.3/1.5 just seeing that will drop your head a bit,now if it were 7.3 to 5.1 that score line could possibly have changed the entire game.

But you were using our lack of preparation as an excuse - WC doesn't seem to need that excuse.
It's an excuse for us against Norff because they're fitter than us atm, because they started their pre-season that much sooner.
But you're right, it's not affecting WC. Probably because they're faster, more accurate around goals and hit-up targets better than we do. They also get an armchair ride from the umps. But hey -- why are we discussing those @#$%'s anyway?
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!
