Attitude has a lot to do with things, in my son's U16 game today they played a team that had had a pretty big beating in their first round. The boys thought their reputation would win the game for them. Well they had to fight for a 2 goal win, with jarrodswan kicking a goal when they were 3 points ahead to seal the game.

It did the boys good, to get grounded again, I hope the same happens to the Swannies.

My boys won their soccer on Saturday morning against a bunch of kids that had never played before.

How many games to the good sides they need to loose in order to ground them? Last year they finished 4th because of better percentage. My serious opinion this time is that they won't finished in top any more and that the slide that started last year will continue this year as well unless something drastically can be changed. The next 4 weeks we'll know where we stand.

Knowing where we stand within a month would be nice but I bet we won't know that until the siren goes on the last game in R22.

I think you are over estimating Dempster. While handy, his loss is only a small influence on our predicament.

IMO the back line has done remarkable well considering the loss of personal it has had.

We lost to the kangaroos because our midfield applied ZERO pressure when the Roos had the ball. The best backline in the world wont stop a side if the ball is coming in without pressure.

Perhaps true in the first quarter. But in the final analysis, we lost despite kicking enough goals in the final quarter to win ourselves, because we bled 4 goals to the Roos. 3 of them were sharked or scrubbered out of a contested ball situation after the ball had been kicked in there and not marked. The ball did not hit leading forwards lace-out on the chest. You can provide whatever explanations you like for that (including dumb bad luck), but lack of pressure upfield on the guy delivering into the forward line isn't one of them.

In most cases when Sydney kick 6 goals in a quarter, you'd back them to restrict the opposition to no more than 1, because our style is such that if we do kick 6 goals, it usually means the opposition is barely getting a sniff.
