    The midfield

    Where is it at?

    - Are we undergoing a change of style brought in by a new midfield coach, and the greater oppurtunities of having top flight tap ruckmen live Everitt around. This change will take some weeks to gell, so we wont see the real benefits until later in the season.

    OR

    - Are they really as cr@p as they look, and the only thing that kept them competitive for the last 3 years was Ross Lyon's expert tution.

    I think they are crap.

In the centre square we had Mathews who is unable to do anything useful or positive.

Ablett has limited attacking ability or cannot read the play or fall of the ball.

J Bolton cannot read the play , fumbles a lot and has poor disposal.

Kirk is always in their fighting, but needs outside support.

    Fosdike went missing tonight.

Buchanan often useful, but will not carry a midfield, has mixed disposal and was average tonight.

Goodes is the great wildcard, but has been poor this year.

    McVeigh useless.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

It's such a shame...we used to be a free-flowing attacking team, now we are as boring as bat@@@@ and seem to just bottle the ball up at every opportunity and suddenly without the talent, smarts, skills to get it out cleanly from the stoppages we create.
I am having serious trouble equating the team that I have seen this year with the one that won the premiership just 18 months ago and played in consecutive GFs. Something is seriously rotten there in Driver Avenue if the performances this year, even the ones we won, are deemed to be acceptable. Our midfield is basically made up of hacks...B1 has courage but lacks basic football skills and smarts. Kirk the same. I would have liked to see Monty and/or Schneider up forward, crumbing, at Bazza's feet, running into goal...there was little forwardline pressure out there, and as with the Kangas, the opposition ran the ball out of defence much too easily.
I am bewildered by their performances this year.
But, as the wife said, we've had 2 years at or near the top, so be thankful of that...we've seen them win a premiership, and that's something thousands of Swans fans over the 70-odd years have never done.

No, I think they are crap.

Like last week, they win a clearance and run away, we scrap and fight and get a quick kick or handball to noone, and sometimes come away with the ball.

Our skills are generally poor. We lack ball winners. We lack speed. We have poor decision-making.

many of these issues arise from lack of confidence.

but there are also some fundamental problems with the structure and the type of players we are picking

            Matthews OUT. McVeigh OUT.
maybe then we'd be a better side.
