    Fine Collection

I am willing to throw in $100 towards any fine that Roos gets for criticising the umpires tonight.

We wouldn't have won the game but the umpiring was a disgrace. 28-14 with in 2 quarters the count being something like 8-1.

I know that umpiring is a hard gig, but the display tonight is enough to turn people off the game. For christ sake is it that hard to be consistent to both sides, all I ask for is fairness, nothing more nothing less. They weren't even smart enough to try and even up the count towards the end of the game.

I think they have all been attending Goldspink College

Agree. Hard to watch football when it is ruined by over-umpiring.

I won't throw money in, but I agree with you. I commented to my wife that it detracted from my enjoyment of the game becuase so many decisions were bewildering. The AFL has a serious issue arising from its own mismanagement and screwing around with the rules but fines anyone who speaks out about it. Four coaches fined last week. How many this week?
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I am good for 100. It appears to me that the umpries have an agenda against us. The umpiring at the best of times was poor and at the worst was just downright bias. I say Roos should pipe up and say something cos the standard is an absolute @@@@n joke.

Yeah the umpiring was crap but it always is every game you watch any game on TV the umpires make lots of blunders.
Until there is allowed open criticism of umpiring decisions by coaches after the game the standard will never improve.

The AFL is creating it's own guillotine here. Their protectionism of the umpire fraternity in aid of attracting more people to become umpires (we'll protect you, don't worry!) is bringing their own game into disrepute. How some of these guys still have jobs is beyond me - You and I would have lost our job a long time ago if we were as incompetent as some of those idiots they have running around adjudicating a game they know nothing about. It seems to me that each and every one of the AFL's employees out on the ground tonight lied (I repeat, lied) on their resume that they had umpired before. These guys were a joke, which in turn makes the AFL look like laughing stock. Unfortunately, plebescites like you and me will also continue to go to the football to watch such incompetence, we all take what is dished up, week in, week out, and when we can't go we all turn into the footy on TV, Internet and the like. AFL may well be the laughing stock, but it is them that are doing all the laughing. Until that changes, nothing else will.

The interesting thing that its not only the AFL, in our little junior footy league we have an umpire who is clearly passed his used by date however they still employ him as they are desperate for umpires (Dr J, guess who, name starts with S).

We have had many issues with this guy but he is untouchable. I know it's a hard job but clearly showing bias against one team is unacceptable. This happened tonight and whilst it didn't cost us the game it did have an impact on the momentum.

I thought the umpiring was fair. Only 2 decisions that resulted in Saints goals, and one that robbed us of a possible goal kinda trigger a memory response (allbeit minor). I think all three were in the last 30 min of game time too.

I liked the umpiring, I liked the game, I liked the icecream at half time.

PS this dictionary thingy is begining to piss me off. WTF is wrong with the word icecream!!!!!!!! There is NO NEED TO UNDERLINE THE WORD ICECREAM!!!!!

Maybe us getting raped by the umps due to our scragging defensive minded midfield may force Roos to change the game plan up a bit (for a change).

Phillips will never make it - he is just too slight.

We really need to be prepared to have some long shots from 50 on the run to force the opposition defenders to guard the goals as well as the players
