    We created it . . .

Credit should go to Paul Roos for working out that a bunch of kids playing attacking footy can always be stopped by some hard bodied seniors that deny them the easy run. So he created man-on-man tempo footy. In the last two weeks, we have seen that others have adopted our game and developed it further. The Roos play man on man better than us and can do it for a whole game better than we can. The Lyon-coached Saints use their superior skills to play our lock-down footy better than we do.

We created it and quite few teams are now doing it better than us: the Roos and Saints but also the Eagles, of course, and Adelaide. Our current game is Plan C (after run and attack and the ultimate-stoppers models) - is there any chance we'll develop a Plan D?

Everyone's criticising the game plan but it's the excecution that's letting us down at the moment. Had we run and tackled with some vigour, hit targets, worked hard off the ball, kicked effectively into the forward 50 and exercised some discipline we may have won tonight. I'm sure all those things were in the game plan but our players are so out of form and out of sync with eachother that we couldn't realise that plan.

I'd just be happy with a plan A.

I'd be happy if our skill improved by at least 25%.

We simply miss easy targets and seem to pass to a staionary player too often. Stop handballing to get out of trouble and instead use the disposal to set up positive attacking moves.

I'd be happy if we won a match, regardless of what plan it is.

I think the worry is we don't have an alternative.

In 2003 we played exciting football, but no one expected it.

In 2004 opponents worked that out and we were terrible.

In 2005 and 2006 we went into a tight, ugly, low-scoring defensive plan that was effective because other teams didn't always know how to cope.

That seems to have been countered now by playing tough defensive football back at the Swans, who struggle with disposal and decision making in those circumstances. In the past we would just make the game more dour in those cases, but now that's not working so well.

Where can we go from here? Yes, they can get better, but I'm not sure if we can be a threat again.
