Eagles, Crows losses will come back to haunt us

It would be nice to have those 8 points back now wouldn't it?

Having just dropped another 8 valuable points against teams we should have beaten, and now in one of the most serious ruts we've had under Roos' coaching, we're in grave danger of losing touch with the top 4 and therefore any realistsic premiership campaign.

That's why early season games are so vital and why its I can't accept those who were willing to overlook the Eagles / Crows losses as simply unlucky defeats to the best home and away teams of recent years (e.g. the 3rd thread). The fact is unless we get on an extraordinary run soon, and most importantly see a marked improvement in endeavour and skills, we can forget about playing a meaningful role in finals this year.

It's worth noting Fremantle's season last year as a possible yardstick for us. If we're going to come good once again - as Roos and the players keep insisting - then Freo last year were 6-7 after 13 rounds before winning their last 9 games to finish 3rd.

I doubt the SCG is as big an advantage for us as Subiaco is for Freo, so after 13 rounds we'd want to be at the very least 7-6. That means we MUST win 4 of our next 6 games, with 5 probably a more likely target to get us to 8-5.

    We have:

    Port (SCG)
    Dogs (Canberra)
    Essendon (SCG)
    Hawthorn (MCG)
    Collingood (TS)
    Geelong (Skilled)

Win the next 3 'home' games and our confidence will be back and you could say with some confidence that we would get the 5 wins - with the Geelong game shaping as the tough one.

So a vital 3 weeks coming up.

We will not win 5 of the next 6 games. The Swans do not ever win 5 in a row.

        Occasionally we do.

Last year we went from 1-3 to 7-3.

I think that's the only time under Roos.
