    Lewis Roberts Thompson

I was talking today to a bloke who boarded with him at SHORE who said that Lewey is a top bloke, a sports nut and just an all round great guy. Good to hear I think.

With a mug like that, he's have to be nice

Seriously though, I do get 'he's a nice guy' vibes. Must be the mouthguard and the mop.

Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

An all round great guy that I wish was out on the footy field.

        Interview with LRT

My daughter won the 'reporter for a day' competition in the AFL Record in 2003. She pitched them the idea for a story on LRT, the private school rugby player, turned AFL player, after we watched him in his first match against Geelong, where he kicked 2 goals.

Mum had to take her to training (oh, what a chore!) where she interviewed LRT and had photos taken. He was fantastic, admitted he was nervous too (she was shaking) and and all round nice guy. My son saw him in a local restaurant last year, just after his surgery, and he was happy to have a good chat also.

Story was published in the kids section of The Record for round 21.

                Is it the heartfelt sentiment?

                    BLT BOG Y'ALL!

BLT was tops at the grand final dinner last year - signed my shirt, let me have a photo AND let me call him BLT!

Can't wait to have him back on the ground - none of this fake BLT stuff from other teams....hoorah!

As ungainly as he is...... And everytime he goes near the ball I have my heart in my mouth because he just looks like he's going to fumble it.....

I do miss him being out there... And so does the rest of the team...

Think he might be the first ever to turn a loose man in defence role into a key position!!

Can anyone tell me what bone he broke in his foot and why it has taken him so long to recover. Was it correctly diagnosed, and the fact that he played hurt in the GF probably exacerbated the injury.

                          Round 19.

At first, Roberts-Thomson didn’t realise how serious the injury was.

I felt a shift in my foot. I just thought it was minor at the time. Initially we didn’t know what it was. We didn’t think it was serious. Then scans revealed it was a dislocation of the foot.
                          The in between.

Despite the diagnosis, Roberts-Thomson continued to play with the injury for the remainder of the season. “When it came to the crunch, I was able to prepare myself the best I possibly could for the weekend and the medical staff have procedures they can do to get me on to the field. I was always able to prove my fitness during the week so I played on.
                          Post Grand Final.

Scans revealed that the bones around the initial injury really started to deteriorate and I think what did happen is I ended up having stress fractures and ligament damage.
