    Nagging question

Why was Davo on the bench for the last 7 minutes of last year's GF?

He had been one of the better players during the game. He was certainly kicking better than any of the rest of them. Even if he was spent, why wasn't he sitting in a pocket or based in the goal square. I am not saying that we would have won had he been there, but surely, if ever there was a time for individual brilliance, it was in the dying moments of '06.

I'm pretty sure it's because Roos hates him and Kirk told Roos to bench him.

No seriously, it has been nagging away at me. Was he completely spent? Or was he not considered the right option?

I think it came down to a mix between poor player management (that is directed at the coaching staff in general, not just a snipe at Roos) and also just how intense the final few minutes were. Davo was up and waiting to come on the field for a few minutes before he finally got on, the runner was gone for a long time trying to get the other player off the field then, and I can't remember who it was who came off, the player took an eternity to get off the field (it wasn't just little ol' Davo infatuated me that noticed it, our entire bay was watching this and going nuts)- in all fairness to both the runner and the player who needed to come off it seemed to be more the game being non stop intensity (no opportunity to leave their man) than either of them being inept.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Going over it, the only Swans with less time on ground were Doyle, Jolly, LRT and Ablett (injury). This old post of mine from bf has the TOG stats from the GF.

          ----------------bf---------------

This was more for my curiosity than anything, I realize that the ratings are a little flawed as they are just based on stats and don't take, for example, beating your direct opponent into account - Hall rated better than Glass originally! The ratings scores are from finalsiren.com) but if anybody is interested here they are (logic is based on a per48 minutes stat that is used with NBA stats, which is again a little flawed )... anyway... Easy to see the Eagles dominance.

I suspect it may have been because Banfield had given him a bath for the first 15 mins of that qr.

this one's been nagging me - why does he always stand at the end of the line (furtherst away from roos-could be an answer?) when lining up for the national anthem ?!?!? is it superstition or something else ...

The guy at the end of the line gets the most time on camera. (Much to Stella's delight)

At least that why I've always thought he does it.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

I thought you had wife problems, ROK.

He was being beaten by Chick(?) in that last qtr, maybe that was why. They were a number of one on ones where Chick beat him.

It was Banfield - beat him in two one-on-ones I seem to recall. Still, he was providing a dangerous option up there there and it's not like anyone else in the forward line looked likely to kick a goal.

That was the one. From memory there wasn't anyone else in the forward line.
