No, not the odds Ainslie were getting to win (they'd be much bigger), but the score at half time. It finished 29.21 (195) 5.5 (35)

- Only saw the game from the midpoint of the 3rd by which point Thornton had kicked 6. Grundy also finished with 6.
- Crouch got a fair bit of it playing on the wing, the most memorable moment was when he delivered a solid hip and shoulder to a Ainslie player and was penalised for it.
- Didn't see Schmidt at all but he was listed on the scoreboard with 2 goals so I suspect an injury .
- Brabazon was very impressive in the time that I saw him, I felt he had a Malceski-esque aura about him in this game. His improvement since the start of the year has been terrific.
- Jesse White was back for this game and I got my first look at Luke Brennan. He would fit right in with the Swans for he has an atrocious kicking action.
- No Shaw or Rowe, not sure whether this is due to injury or the limitation of 15 listed players. So a skinny young kid in #53 was the backup to Doyle.

Poor kid was so clearly not up to it physically. Big ask for him to be competing centre bounces against a pretty solid opponent.

Very even performance from the Swans reserves. Missed the first quarter but saw most the of the rest. Grundy seemed to just play two quarters forward. Certainly the 3rd quarter he was either on the bench or down back. White was given run of the forward line in the 3rd quarter and wasn't marking well - very hard hands. But given he's coming back from a finger injury, probably don't need to read much into that.

Thornton very good in first half. Brabazon started to dominate in second half. Not sure I would describe his performance quite as Malceskiesque but agree with Ugg on his vast improvement since last year.

Laidlaw was a bit quieter than the other times I've seen him this year but still took some very good overhead marks. Phillips sharp in front of goal as per normal. Jack was lively, Grundy far too good for his opponent one-on-one, Crouch good (but no more so than you'd expect from someone of his experience).

Davis and Barlow were a little disappointing, I thought - mixing some good stuff with some very basic errors. Smith and O'Dwyer both struggled a bit to get involved. Vogels was pretty quiet too. Moore was lively but didn't look as if he was concentrating as he might - made some simple errors by apparently not watching the ball properly.

No he wasn't. Did occur to me that maybe he was taken off for that reason but then remembered he wasn't officially one of them. Hopefully that was the explanation, though, because he was playing reasonably well in the part of the first half I saw and would be a shame if he picked up an injury.

Grundy, Crouch and Jack - the three named emergencies - were all out there at least in part for the second half, though Reg and Jack maybe were used a bit sparingly.

That skinny #53 actually had a very good 1st quarter. After that the Ainslie ruckmen worked him out and blocked his leap or bodied him out. But he did show some talent. Schmidt played pretty well in the first half, not sure why he was unsighted in the second half.

I wasn't impressed by Crouch. His attitude was poor and that "big bump" mentioned earlier was directly in front of me - and completely unnecessary. Justifiably penalised!

On the other hand I though Schmidt was great while he was on, Brabazon and Thornton were quick and looked good and Vogels and Jack received some big hits but were ok at the end.

I still feel that the reserves are NOT receiving the testing matches that they NEED to develop their skills and fitness. Obviously outclassing yet another opponent today..

Took a few snaps at ground level, and after culling a few hundred disastrous shots, have a few to share...

Another young kid I coached a couple of years back played today for the ressies. Number 51, Jack Schwarze.

Played on the half back flank and did a couple of good things until he took a solid defensive mark and then kicked across goals, got intercepted and Ainslie kicked a goal!

I did not teach him that!!
