Considering last week we were all saying that Kennelly was our most important player, given his absence today makes it even a better win.

    I'm rapt.
I am with you. I saw the game completely differently to some on this board.

And they say Richmond eat their own

I just have to say after watching a really great game by the Swans, that most of you on this sight need a life! I have never read so much rubbish from so called followers of a team. You dont have to agree with everything but critisism for the sake of it is pathetic. Thank God Paul Roos is an innovative person and doesnt pay attention to this garbage. I am horrified by the nasty and down right defamatory things written about people that are not know by any of you. I hope you all pay attention to what is important in your own lives or do you just live and rage at something you have absolutely no control over. Just dreadful and so dissappointing!!! I have heard Richmond supporters and you out do even them.

the dogs didn't come to play ... because we didn't let them!! the pressure was great and the midfield fantastic - great overall performance and encouraging signs. we never let them get running or to fight back.

I agree with you, there are some halfwits on here who always want to over analyse the games and whinge about one mistake by a player when he has been excellent for the rest of the game. It really is pathetic.

Football is a sport that I enjoy watching. For the most part I also enjoy this site, but for those of you who always have to over analyse everything from kicking the ball, to the style of the trainers when they come onto the ground, a word of advice, get a life.

Yesterday was a good win, the Bulldogs didn't look good because we made them look ordinary. Our forward and defensive pressure is back, our kicking for goal was relatively good, we owned the ruck contests. In short we out played them.

For those that still aren't happy, I really feel sorry for you, I just hope your ridiculous criticisms are not indicative of how you treat others in life.

Actually the Dogs did come to play - in the 3rd qr their intensity lifted markedly - but so did the Swans! There was a great 15 mins period of tough hard footy, and we matched them every step of the way.

OK, so it won't be our toughest game of footy this year but I think we were convincingly the more skilled & hungrier side out therre.

And great to see all the RWO maligned - Bevan, Bolton, McVeigh, Crouch - play good to very good games. Just quietly, even Benny Mathews has had an excellent last month & another great effort yesterday.

You can only beat the opposition you are up against and I thought the Swans did that clinically yesterday. Watching the game down there it did lack intensity - perhaps it was just the Manuka environment that made it seem a bit flat. (It would be nice if they invested in a decent PA system ).

Generally I thought all Swans played quite well. Goodes and Spida were terrific, but very encouraging signs from Jude, Jolly, Crouch in particular.

Fosdike must have been playing without a man he got so much of it. I followed him for a bit of the 3rd quarter and after getting possession from a kick in and disposing in the back pocket, he sprinted to the half forward flank on the opposite side of the ground where he picked up another possession and kicked inside 50. Brilliant work and probably sums up the Dogs lack of workrate on the day.

Still, I was happy with the win and my mid-season target of being 7-4 is still a possibility.

I haven't noticed any "criticism for the sake of it" or whinging about little things or over-analysing on this thread.

A good performance by the Swans, but still far from where they need to be to compete for another flag. But the signs are encouraging.

The loss of McMahon and Griffen for the Dogs and Kennelly and Davis for the Swans, took a lot of run out of the game. Although on paper you might think the Swans lost the most by these exclusions, I think the Dogs really suffered and by the lack of run out the back. The game was forced to tighter contests that favoured the Swans.

Hard to be critical after a good win, but I agree with those that think Bevan's poor ball use makes it hard to keep him on the senior squad. He's a reasonable defender and a good tackler and gives 100%, all things the inner sanctum love, but his ball handling and decision making is just not up to AFL standards.

Would like to see Schmidt given another run, especially if Crouch is out of action with his hammy.

I'd put this down as our best win for this season in that it was clear that we had to go somewhat outside of what you could say was a typical Swans gameplan of play it hard and tight in close, win the stoppages and make the play from there.

I haven't looked at the stats but the Dogs...either won or broke even in clearances but where we beat them was to clinically stop their typically speedy run on play, hard attack on the loose ball and a lot of pressure on their outside carriers caused them to turn it over a lot giving us a lot of open forward movements.

A great win and will give the boys a lot of confidence in carrying out specific plans for specific opponents going forward.

Oh, and I thought Bevo did all right actually, quite a few good touches across half back.

fantasically warm and sunny day in canberra, topped off by a magnificent win.
we had the best seats in the sun in bay 19 near the goalposts. top day. the dogs were the swannies beyatches - all day.
did anyone happen to tape the game? i walked out without setting the vcr. silly me. pm me if you can supply me a copy. i'll pay the costs.

Malceski was great, Goodes and MOL were excellent, most of the others were good, but we were scrappy a lot of the time with no real pressure applied and the Dogs were atrocious, whether under pressure or not. As I said above, it was a good win, but the Dogs were dreadful. You know those games where we have not turned up 'til half time. It was like that for the Dogs today, but all day.
My comments on the preview last week was that the Crows made the Dogs look worse than Richmond. Funny how the Doggies don't turn up to play when the game is against teams that don't let them dictate the terms.

I wonder if Eade is a half-wit... "Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade said his side had simply not worked hard enough and the feedback from the GPS systems attached to monitor players' running in games had proved that."

Staggering how much room Fossie got all day - as someone said, he LOVES these big grounds. There was a period there where he must have had half a dozen "easy" kicks out on either wing - I don't the Dogs had that many cheap kicks all day.
