What's the general consensus? Will Kirk get a suspension for the head high? Is it similar at all to what Kerr was reported for?
Will Kirk get suspended?

Similar incidents but Kirk was going for the ball. Not sure what will happen. I think Kirky's record is pretty good so hopefully a reprimand only, or a points penalty only with a guilty plea."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

He seemed to brace himself for contact. I think he could have avoided the contact, but it would be unlike Kirk to avoid contact. I'm not sure how the MRP will view that.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I don't think it is comparable to the Kerr case. Bruce was already on the ground and in possession, and Kerr made a decision to bump him. That is precisely what the AFL is trying to stamp out.
I reckon Kirk can reasonably argue that he was contesting a loose ball. He also seemed to make an effort to move to the side at the point of contact so that he mostly got Cornes on the shoulder but it looked as if there was still some glancing contact to the head.
I certainly think the MRP will look at Kirk's and he might well have a case to answer. If he does, I suspect it will be categorised as negligent contact rather than Kerr's, which I think will be deemed reckless. Then it will come down to whether the impact is deemed to be low or moderate.
As others have said, a reprimand seems unlikely. Will either be nothing or a couple of weeks, I suspect.
Kerr has a recent suspension hanging over him and so I can't see how he can get less than 3-4 weeks.Comment

I've just seen the Kirk incident again on the Fox replay. What might save him is that he was already committed to the contact before Cornes dropped low. There is no way he could have pulled up when it became clear that he was likely to make high contact. Will come down to whether the MRP thinks he could have anticipated Cornes would drop down, but if they do, that is tantamount to saying Kirk had no right to compete for the ball.
Could still be in trouble but think it will be pretty harsh if he is suspended.Comment

Kirk has nothing to answer for, the MRP will know the he is hard at the ball but fair unlike that little snipping turd Kerr he might just get a "be careful next time Kirky" You watch all the crap from opposition supporters when nothing happens "Sydney gets this,Sydney gets that,They get away this and that" I say pee off you jealous bastards. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Kirk gets a reprimand
On Fox news.
Sydney co-captain Brett Kirk was also charged with making front-on contact, on Port Adelaide's Chad Cornes in the final term at the SCG yesterday, but can escape with a reprimand because of his good record.
Kirk can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards a future charge with an early guilty plea.Comment
