There may have been a bit of a breeze down that end??? Not sure

Tuggeranong kicked the early few goals and then we steadied

              Sorry folks...scoreboard still not updating

Hawks were very good in the second quarter. Came out firing and really took it up to the Swans. Its probably been so long since anyone has done that to them that they've forgotten how to defend, because a couple of the Hawks goals came from ordinary defensive efforts.

Despite the Swans never truly being challenged, they did get something of a contest today, at least around the ground. Tugga didn't look like a side that has only won one game this year.

That said, some of the Swans were contributing to the contest with some pretty awful disposal and decision making. They got better in the second half, and blitzed five goals in barely five minutes at the start of the final term while playing some very good football.

Schmidt was BOG by a country mile, IMO. Must have got umpteen clearances, was so often in exactly the right spot, decision making spot on and disposal skills very good too.

Grundy was quiet early but got much better as the game went on. He took at least half a dozen superb contested marks, though let himself down with his goal kicking a little, to the extent that he started passing off to others, until snaring the last three of the game. His field kicking was pretty good, and to be fair, the missed shots looked pretty good off the boot. They just missed! (And one was a poster, so only just missed.)

Moore was pretty good though he plays so laconicly that he doesn't inspire confidence that he can step up to the next level. But he's a smart player.

Rowe was my next best - solid in all four quarters.

Thornton was well down on his form over the last few weeks.

Simpkin mixed brilliance with some shocking decision making and ordinary skill errors. He was running very hard and would burst through packs at pace, only to kick directly to a Hawk or take a pot shot at goal when off-balance and with free team mates in support.

Laidlaw was good in the second half but pretty quiet early.

Brabazon was a bit like Simpkin, though not as busy. But he did snap a couple of good goals in the final term.

No-one else really stood out, for good or bad. Smith did a few nice things but is very light. Shaw kicked the first two goals and looked dangerous down there for a while. White was in defence most of the time and looked pretty ordinary. Vogels was quietish for him, though he did some good work through the middle. Wasn't particularly impressed by Brennan and Doyle was just so-so, given his edge in age and experience.

None of O'Dwyer, Flipper or Jack played, presumably because it was their turns not to. The Swans had their full complement of 18 listed players. Seems a strange decision to rest Flipper and Jack in the same game because at times the forward line was screaming out for a small, speedy crumber.

Was moderately impressed by the efforts of some of the top-ups. Don't know names by numbers 50, 52 and 54 all showed good defensive desperation and work rate. I think it was 50 who scored the goal, so he must be Schwarze.

Forgot to mention him in post above.

Was probably only on ground for about half the game - pretty normal for first game back. Took some nice marks in defence where he looked a class above anyone else. And set up one goal with a kick that looked dreadful off the boot but hit someone on the chest.

Probably did what was expected of him and will get a few more weeks to really get the feel of the game back.

I thought they were really poor in the 2nd quarter, as bad as I've seen them. Perhaps they felt the absence of Phillips who is a livewire around the ground. Hawks played pretty well, full credit to them. Bit of a niggle in the game as well.

PS. Jesse White has blonde hair now!

I love the little guys, 52 and 54. They are so cute.

Btw, i didn't see Phillips out there - anyone know what happened to him?

After the rubbish served up by our midfield tonight Schmidt has to play a string of games now. He cant possibly play as badly as McVeigh, Bolton and Bevan and he has one thing they havent, some disposal skills.
