Lobster most definitely has a rare skill. We lose a match by a point and he still can keep his cool enough to get his jollies by trolling supporters of his very own club, and getting results week after week, year after year.

Lobster is most definitely a special individual. The world would be a different place without him. But they would also not be the same without the Oklahoma City bomber. What does that say about the world?!

ROK you're easily the worst Sydney 'supporter' i've ever known. Yes i admit we SHOULD have taken more of our opportunities, but the umps played a huge part and that can't just be dispelled completely. Any chance you could switch teams?

rok s going to support the tigers, well done sydney for what not getting our percenatages hammered, which will only be important if we make the 8 and based on last night all we will be getting is a higher draft pick and we need that badly as well.

Ignoring all the personal abuse that has been thrown around

What is the consensus then? Is it time to stop being proud when the team obviously shoots itself in the foot with ordinary play and just falls short through spirited play in the dying moments?

Plenty of supporters seem to have the same mindset as the leadership group. Hey, we won a flag and just missed one playing like this in the past, everything is fine. Playing a crap first 3 quarters very nearly lost a semi-final in 05 (which only a quarter of individual brilliance saved us from). If that had not have occurred, and then last year's grand final played out the same way, there would be a lot of disgruntled people here and disappointment that a side who prides itself on endeavour and team work can function in such a lethargic and disjointed way for such a long period in such a crucial game.

There is justification in the argument that the team should not look to introduce younger players into the senior side while the "window" is still open. That is fine, but performances like last night are quickly letting the wndow fall shut. Essendon, at home, should have been a win. We weren't beaten by a better side, or by the umpires. Sydney lost that game because of shocking skills and lack of hunger. Those are the things that the reserves have in spades (though skills will be tested at a higher level).

If the window is to stay open, maybe some changes are required. It is certainly time to stop relying on the fact that we have been here before and that everything will be alright. It is time to stop being proud of pathetic performances.

Agree wholeheartedly Rok. But why couldn't you make this your OP of the thread? You wouldn't of copped all the abuse if you did.

The abuse does not worry me. I could not care less. No abuse was directed at any others. The thread was meant simply to be a tongue-in-cheek appreciation of the rare skill we displayed last night and to draw attention to the fact that the "we are proud of themn anyway" approach is wearing thin. That other posters get antsy and fling the abuse is their problem. It seems that if people are stupid that they are naturally defensive and assume that anything that they don't understand is somehow a dig at them.

There was one post that upset me though, the one about the bandwagoner's of '96 form the kid who was 10 at the time...

It's not just abuse ROK. Its justifiable criticism. You are now ruining the board for me and I find little enjoyment coming here any more. You need to think about what you say on here and why you say it.

How and why? I find 90% of the material on here inane and mindless. SHould I complain everytime I think that someone makes a crap post. I just ignore it. I am not sure why the finger is consistently pointed at me as ruining the boards. Aside from this thread, which seems to have ruffled more feathers than I thought it would, or should have, can you please point to say three occasions where I have made RWO a less enjoyable place for you.

I agree 100% we were lucky to get within 1 point last night, we forced the ball forward with 3rd and 4th efforts and will power at times. It was pathetic. Essendon made the ground look small by kicking long and being aggressive and a lot more polished.

We can complain about the umpiring against hall, but if our midfield (our premiership, runners up etc super amazing midfield) kicked it into hall the same way essendon fed lloyd and co he wouldnt be giving away half as many frees. How about going into the forward line in the middle to a lead in front of goals. How about hitting a friggen target on the chest. How about if hall has michael and fletcher on him and mcphee lurking, someone else gives a lead?

its just the basic football principles letting this side down and its time they made some genuine changes. Yes 2 years ago we won a premiership, last year we did ok, but lets face it we lost what we should of won. But thats history and if we cant beat essendon at home then questions need to be asked. They made us look like a bottom 8 side last night and the trouble is the umpiring, the comeback and the fact we almost won seems to prevent any real examination of our perfromance.

Or were you, it your eagerness to jump aboard the "slip in the cheap shot bandwagon" careless in your proof reading and logic.

I still fail to see how the thread could be considered trolling or baiting. As I said elsewhere, it seems that those who do not understand what is written naturaly assume it is a go at them. Generally, if I want to have a go at someone's post I will and if I want to have a go at them I bite my tongue. I get in trouble with the mods if I post something that could perhpas suggest personal abuse. It seems I do not get, but nor do I ask for, the same protection. Not that to be compared to Timothy McVeigh is insulting - I hear his credit card was fully paid off before he died.
