Will global warming mean an end to night sporting fixtures?

It has been mentioned elsewhere on RWO and by people on the radio when talking about combatting global warming, but with the ridiculous amounts of greenhouse gases produced by night sporting fixtures, should they be banned?

I for one, can't see the point in changing all my light globes to fluro's (although I am doing this to save money) to cut down on greehouse gas emmissions when the MCG, SCG etc are doing far worse damage.

firms are the main contributers to green house gas emissions...i dont think cancelling night games will make a hell of a difference.

Does that mean because they are worse than us and the AFL etc that we should do nothing?

      Every little bit helps.

Bah.... It will never happen. Besides, if you think about it, a day game uses no more electricity than a night game.

See during a day it's warmer OK??? Now if you're trying to chill down 250,000 beers to drinking temperature, you're better off doing it at night when it's cooler. That way the fridges don't have to run so long. Unlike when you have a day match and those fridges need to run longer to keep that precious amber fluid at it's correct serving temperature. So whatever electricity you save in lights, you lose in refrigeration.

        You know it makes sense.

As soon as they ban cows, night games are next on the list, shortly followed by Swans message boards

I have the perfect solution to global warming. Move the whole world to the Eastern Stand at Olympic Park of a Saturday night when the Storm play. The 'gentle breeze'(coming straight in from Antarctica via Gate 7 at the Docklands) guarantee to freeze dry the life out of everything in the vicinity.

Apparently agricultural activities account for a lot of greenhouse gases. Just stop a few cows from farting and we can keep our night games at the G

No because the argument was that the big firms were doing more damage than the AFL. My argument was that if we all do nothing because someone is doing more damage then nothing will ever be done.

You need to read each quote in the context of the thread. But just so I', clear, I do less damage to the environment with my lights than the Afl does with theirs. The AFL do less damage with their lights than big business does with theirs.

The same media organisations who help whip up this global warming hysteria are pushing for a night grand final.
