I actually didn't sit there watching the game getting pissed with the umpires.
I felt there were a few poor decisions, but this happens every game.
Maybe everyone is so up tight about it given the way the game went.
and
My point is, if you need to boo anyone, think about it and boo the AFL.
I've been to just about every SCG game since they came to town and I'd say this was as cranky as I've ever been and as cranky as I've ever seen the crowd. We were livid. Now whether we were as hard done by as we thought we were at the ground could be debated. I've watched the replay and it's hard not to be slightly biased by the commentators who didn't appear to be as indignant as us fans at the decisions.
As for your second point about booing why don't we boo the AFL.
FFS, that's exactly who we were booing from the time the scumps left the ground. Everybody to a man who booed has said they weren't necessarily booing Lloyd or Essendon, but the whole situation. I wasn't surprised the knobs in the Melbourne media would conveniently overlook that fact and condemn us as unsportsmanlike. I'm disappointed one of our own didn't understand that.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

CTS, believe me, this game was the absolute perfect example of the people at the game having a different take than those not at the game. It was impossible not to get wrapped up in it all, normally sane people were going nuts well before the final whistle. DrJ and myself nearly went hoarse booing the scumps off at half time, let alone full time.

right on!!
the view of those that were actually there, differ greatly to those that watched the sanitised version on tv. i saw both.
it really does make a huge difference.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I wasn't actually at the game, but having watched it on tape I can honestly say someone would have had to stop me jumping the fence to strangle that incompetent bunch of umpires. I would have been booing right along with if not louder than everyone else. However I still think we deserved to lose but not get robbed by dodgy umpiring.Red & White forever.Comment

Booing is bad sportsmanlike. I was hearing all the booing on the redio when trying to listen to Loid Essanddon accept the MIGHTY Marn Grook Trophy for the best National player when the booing was incessant. I was thinking that a player winning a trophy should not be booed even if he is being a run-away house boy.Comment

Every free we give away, the offending player/s should say "Great decision ump - I made a crap tackle or something like that.... " to the umps. "I will try not to do that in the future......" I am a good player and I am trying to learn from my mistakes.......!
The boys with the whistles are always right and we need to play by the rules. Even when they are wrong they are right. We are in a loose - loose situation. We have to learn this lesson and get on with it. I don't ever recall seeing a game result changed by bad umpiring being reversed.
The league will not allow one side to direct how the umpires direct the game and we need to be seen to be following the leagues directions.
We will be put in our box either on the ground, in the back rooms of the locker room or by media. Be seen to be toeing the corporate line in the short term.
And if you are going to give away a free kick, make it worth it!

Demetriou's fingerprints are all over the new rule changes. Last year they targetted our defenders with their rule change; this year our forwards, especially Bazza. That arrogant @@@@@ is determined to avenge the humilation he suffered in 2005 when the Swans proved him so wrong (at least, that's my conspiracy theory).Occupational hazards:

And they call themselves a national competition...I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

If the gripes are about the unfairness of the new hands in the back rule and how it impacts on our team and in particular Barry Hall, the lobby the AFL to change the rule. My point is, if you need to boo anyone, think about it and boo the AFL.
They make the rules that the umpires are obligated to follow.
They set the standards for the number of umpires officiating.
The make the new rules up as they go.
They restrict clubs from commenting on anything negative in the press.
They are Big Brothering the game IMO, and the game WILL suffer.Good men do good deeds. Evil men do evil deeds. But it takes religion for a good man to do evil deeds.Comment
