    Vocal Spida

Article in the Herald Sun about Spida commenting on the umpires. I just want to say I am the friend of the friend so Spida was just quoting me, isn't he allowed to do that??

"It's funny, going on the umpires, I was talking to a friend of a friend during the week and he believes the umpires are probably getting a bit too big for the whole game itself," he said.

This is the brilliant Dizzy Gillespie trick from a tour of India a few years ago, when asked about a dodgy pitch, he said something along the lines of:

"I can't comment on these things but my brother tells me he reckons it looked like a @@@@-house, dog of a track."
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said Everitt had been fined $5000, with half the sum left suspended, because he was "abusive towards umpires".
The truth hurts doesn't it Adrian?
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

This is typical of the AFL and umpires, above criticism in their eyes. This quote is interesting,
AFL operations manager Adrian Anderson said the comments made by Everitt were damaging to the interests of umpiring.
It was only damaging to the interests of umpiring if they are trying to become larger than the game. I think Spida hit the nail on the head.

                            No. I disagree.

Umpires are sacrosanct and should be treated as such by players, coaches and clubs. Any criticism or comments should not be aired in public and complaints should go through the appropriate formalised channels. It is totally unacceptable and unprofessional to be making statements such as this to the media. Umpires and officials need to be respected for doing a tough job, under difficult circumstances, fully knowing that the best that they will ever do, is please half of the crowd. Any comment or criticism should be met with the full force and power of the AFL.

Notwithstanding, us mere mortals outside of the AFL can say whatever the @@@@ we please!

I disagree. The captains and coaches at least should be able to comment on the umpiring. At the moment the AFL, despite the fact they have admitted that players are treated differently by the umpires, do nothing about it and allow no-one to comment on it. When a complaint is made through the appropriate channels, we get a Jeff Geischen whitewash. I believe it is the way the AFL treats it's players in relation to umpires that is unprofessional. Not the other way around.
