    I may be alone on this..

    .. But watching last weekends game, I didnt think the umpiring was that bad. The goal from OOB being the only really bad decision.

    All this noise about umpiring is just hiding the fact that we played poorly, look no chance to make top 4, and Roos and his senior players have been able to justify "no changes" in a side screaming out for new blood.

      Correct. MacLaren was easily BOG. Move on.

              Yeah, but did you actually watch it? I watched on TV and was ropeable.

              BTW many of us agree that we played crap, but to lose by less than a goal in the way we did was distressing.

                Spot on Barry. You are alone on this.

                However it's time to let the issue rest.

                  Seems a very cynical attitude, but it's hard to argue with your logic... ;

                    Face it, the umpiring was ridiculously bad.

                      I tend to be an apologist for the umpires - they are only human, someone has to do it, don't have advantage of replays, slow motion, multiple views etc - but last week they were very, very bad.

                      Last week the Swans played very badly as well. The umpiring was bad, but it was not the reason the Swans lost the game.

                          So the difference between good umpiring and bad umpiring (unbiased) is more than one point???

                            The point is, you can control the way you play more than you can control the umpiring. The Swans have won when umpiring has been poor and have lost well umpired games. Umpiring will, of course, make a difference, but so will poor decision making and sandpapery skills. It is very difficult to quantify errors by umpires, and players (though Spida's rushed behind can be calculated - but I don't think that individual moment lost us the game either). Had Sydney played better last week, they probably would have won. Had the umpires umpired better we may have won, but given the way weplayed I think it is unlikely.

                              The fact that we were behind for virtually the entire game speaks more to our loss than a few bad umpiring decisions.
