    Dempster

How is everyone feeling after two games with Dempster???

I for one didn't think much of his game against the Bummers but thought he was very servicable against the Dawks on Saturday. He seemed to have a lot of poise for a guy with only a couple of games under his belt this year.

Is he going to be of value this year or is he slipping under everyone's radar a little at the moment???

    Definately in our best 22.

I just wish he'd back himself a bit more. 2 weeks running now he has taken the bit between the teeth, charged forward and kicked a goal from outside 50.

He needs to take them on more often.

Oh yes... Love seeing him bomb from outside 50. Excepting Tricky Nicky, he's probably our only player that CAN drop it in from outside 50!

Yes, that is certainly an asset that we've enjoyed the last 2 weeks and would love to see more of.

He is more of a quiet achiever, goes about his task without being flashy.

Opposite to his old man, When he was on the field, you always knew about it (it may have been the haircut ).

I must admit, having watched his Dad play and seeing his development for me has been quite exciting. He really is a no-fuss footballer who can always be depended on, but I love it when he goes for the run out of the backline. Can result in an individual goal, as in the last 2 weeks or he can set someone up ala Kenelly 05 GF. I'm glad to have him back in the team.

Except for Ablett, C Bolton, Malceski, Kennelly, Schneider, O'Keefe.

Granted none of them does it very often - I think largely because they're instructed to look for a short hit-up target - but all have done it enough to indicate that they're capable of more than just the odd fluke.

With Kennelly out, his run will be really important in the coming weeks. I'd like to see him be able to take his chances and see him in the centre a bit more. That bomb to Davo on Saturday was superb.

Barry Hall 2005 GF any one?

And yes, I reckon that's Demspter's 3 goal from outside 50 this year & I'd be delighted to see him try more often.

I think he shows glimpses of his potential if allowed off the leash to become more attacking. Unfortunately, for whatever reasons, he is left in a defensive role.

He is a lovely 'user' of the ball, just doesn't get it enough.

I agree. The more I see of Dempster holding the ball outside 50, the more I like what I see.

I still think he lacks flexibility / peripheral vision. IMO only looks good on the (rare) occasions he has space & is within goal range. I'm not a good enough tactics man to say that is because he is told to do certain things...some on here seem very certain about such things. Atleast not our worst at the moment.

He is a 70 metre player. Runs 20 kicks 50. They don't grow on trees. Even if he doesn't get that much of it, he makes it count. He also does a job an opposition player every week, usually well. Personally, I think he is a very valuable player.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
