    Herald-Sun Lift Your Game!

Once upon a time I didn't mind this paper. There was the usual emphasis on Bombers and Pies, but you could rely on them to give you the odd morsel to read about the Swans. However, they are becoming more and more parochial with each passing week. I visited West and South Australia a few years back and noticed how bad the coverage was for teams from other states and felt satisfaction that Victoria wasn't that bad. But I have changed my view.

The last two Saturdays there has been NO items regarding the Swans. Then after the match they serve up the most biased reporting.

Here is a comparison of the two teams using the exact words in last Saturday's article.

Sydney: winning ugly, stifling, lethargic, choke up the ball, Sydney's tactics...threatened to challenge the Round 8 nightmare between Hawthorn and St Kilda, Craig Bolton and Leo Barry.... did a reasonable job, margin should have been more to reflect Hawthorn's dominance, Sydney's negative game, that's how the Swans like it... blah blah.

On the other hand, Hawthorn: brilliant last month, refused to lie down, his conqueror....Trent Croad, midfield looked quicker and more dynamic, Hodge provided the toughness...clearly not 100 per cent, wanted to attack, blah blah.

I am sick of this drivel!! At least The Age gives credit where it is due. Trouble is the Herald-Sun keeps trumpeting their distribution figures and thumbs their noses at Swans supporters.

    Yours in disgust, Swannymum...

You're not telling me anything I don't already know, the "little" paper is crap, The Age is heaps better, except it was always hard to read it on the train going to work.

Somewhere between the biassed rubbish written in the HS and the uncritical, parochial coverage in the Sydney papers there lies a happy medium...

So that is the reason for Melbourne drivers driving like they do.

If you don't like what they put in the back part of the paper, for goodness sake, don;t turn it over.

                  Classic.

I bought "Inside Football" today because I'm that desperate for footy news. Under the heading "Swans hit Hawks with "ugly" stick" it analyses players from each team. Bevan is rated a 3/10 and described as making a small contribution. This despite keeping McGlynn (1 or 2 for kicks inside 50 in the compa IIRC) to just 3 kicks in the second half. McGlynn is given 6/10 for a "sound contribution". Dempster is given a 2/10(!!) & described as "battling" notwithstanding he kept the in-form Boyle goalless & kicked one himself!

Sometimes, you can't win even when you win....

it just proves they don't watch games just compile a report from the results of games they don't watch. Read the comments on the fringe players in the reserves it's worse
                    cheers

Gave up buying inside footy when South moved to Sydney. I see my reasons why are still valid today.

I had to laugh Saturday morning here in Perth listening to 6PR (George Grulijsich) driving along just before the Sydney/Hawthorn game there was a litany of Eagles callers whingeing about the previous nights game against Essendon re: various umpiring decisions, the different dimensions of the AFL grounds etc. All the talk was Eagles, Eagles, Eagles. Then George had the nerve to come out with this pearler saying "I tell you the TV commentary last night was the most biased commentating I have ever heard".???!!!!

FFS what about the non-stop biased stuff we get continuously over here!

Welcome to WA. Ten minutes away from the Swans/Hawks game and there was not one word on it!

Gotta love the Eagles fans having a cry after claiming they were robbed and the commentators were biased.

That's what you get in Perth, the footy experts are biased towards the Eagles especially the 6PR commentary (even in the Derby) and the 3AW commentary is an absolute joke. I'm definitely not a fan of the Hutchy and Dwayne Russell combination.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Craig Hutchinson is the worst football commentator of all time, but Dwayne, well he is usually complimentary of us when he does our games. His attitude is it doesn't matter how you play if you win. The last couple of seasons he has been heard to say he'd be happy if Geelong won the way we win.

On the Herald Sun circulation figures - always been rubbery - have worked in the convenience store industry for 9 years and almost every bundle of Herald Suns delivered (25 from memory) is one or 2 short. Was forever chasing credits for non delivered papers.
