Players were incredibly lazy last night. There were times when all forwards would lead leaving a 30-40 metre gaping hole of space in our forward line, then nobody ran into that space.

It was unbelieveable.
Leading in general was pretty ordinary from everyone, very half arsed attempts. All they did was clog up the space for players that were putting on a genuine lead. Ablett did this on several occations.

I don't think that is a laziness issue, more of a confidence issue.

As a whole the team has lost that flow, which in turn has lead to many players second guessing what the other is doing, ending up out of position or just running into spots that we are not able to hit with our poor skills.

I agree that self-belief / team confidence and workrate are linked. But when you're struggling to kick and mark etc, you can still run. That isn't affected by confidence. And these aren't U15s still learning the game without yet a full understanding of where they should be running. They are one of the best drilled elite level teams that must fully know where they should be running to create opportunities and open up space for others.

If you focus on controlling the things that can be controlled, like hard running, chasing, tackling, surely a lot of the rest will soon follow?

That's why I'm far dirtier on those half-dozen players who it seemed couldn't be bothered to do anything to change the intensity than I am with the likes of Hall and O'Loughlin who didn't have good games skillwise by any stretch but were at least working hard to try and make something happen.

Interesting to see what happens - but if they drop Hall, then I can think of several others who should go and visit the magoos also - for God sake the loss was not entirely his fault - sure he contributed - but so did many others - again, it all comes back to having a Plan B ! We dont have one - so doesnt the coach have to shoulder some part of the blame?

A fresh hall is far mroe effective than a 70% hall.
And they should also work on his marking, it's been shocking. Also he needs to stay on his feet more. So often hes 1-1 with a efender and then slips and hands over possession. The other I TOTALLY HATE is when he shrugs of a zillion defenders and then tries to kick backwards in the fwd 50 to a player, be a little more selfish or tell these small forwards to hang around him so he can pass it to them to snap at goal. It's so frustrating when he beats all those defenders and then we dont capitalise.

I agree somewhat with Liz on the hard running and chasing. However, I do think that our forward pressure, like many games this year, is next to zero. The lads are making pretty half-hearted attempts to lock it down in the fwd50 and create a stoppage - something we know how to do well.
I'm a bit sick of the rhetoric coming from the club on the "slow starts" and "doing the small things". I really wish they'd stop talking about it and actually do it.
It's also clear that the leaders of the club aren't doing the talking. There was virtually no talking amongst the guys. The leadership group aren't showing much leadership on the field IMO - there needs to be a hell of a lot more talk, a lot more butt pats, a yelling that the player carrying the ball is "HOT HOT HOT" - it's pissing me off how often we are getting run down from behind.

Maybe the senior players have just had a gutfull of Roos and want him gawwwwn.Looks like the Jonny will get a gig sooner rather than later.IMHO.

That's what players do they play @@@@ and lose games so the board has no option but to sack the coach.I hope that's not the case,but in saying that look how long Sheedy has been at the helm,maybe he has some thing over one of the influential board members.

That's the point that people don't seem to understand - If Hall is playing with some sort of ailment and is not at 100% then he certainly will not go back to the twos but have a couple of weeks of R & R.

I think that is pushing things a bit. A few ordinary games doesn't mean he's lost the players and I've seen nothing to suggest this might be the case.

I don't think so. Ryan O'Keefe when on the Footy Show the other week, said that the boys "LOVE" Roos, I couldn't imagine him using that word if they were sick of him.
