    Longmire's career affecting Swans?

I heard on some media show last week that in this persons opinion, the Swans were suffering because Roos moved Longmire from forwards coach to mid field coach so that it would help him with his coaching career.

WE should all note of the coaching changes over the mid season. This is something significantly different to last year.

After such a pathetic performance from a non existant mid field last night. I'd have to agree.

MMM were saying that the bloods brotherhood seemed to be cracking. Well being at the game last night, there wasn't any brotherhood.

Sadly, we would be lucky to reach the finals this year. If we do, we won't be there very long.

Congratulations to Broken Hearted Bazza for not imploding last night. Most Swans fans did! With grounds to do so.

I believe that Longmire's career is in the toilet. He has missed the boat because I don't think that another club will want to take on a coach that has come from Sydney and risk a crap game plan. I mean look at St Kilda and how Ross Lyon is also under the pump. Yep Longmire will be the next Sydney coasch once Roos leaves as it is his only chance.

i think his reputation as a forwards coach will still be strong, but his foray into midfield coaching has been a failure on the face of it. he's still a good chance to get a victorian forwards coaching assistant position and build from there.

but basically we've screwed ourselves twice by taking our best forwards coach away from what we know he can do and giving him a job you could almost say we know he can't.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I don't think it's fair to say we knew he couldn't. But half way into the season we can say that something's not working.

But more than focus on whether the midfield is suffering from having Longmire there, I think it's evident that the forward line is suffering from NOT having Longmire there. Yes, delivery to the forwards has been terrible for most of the year but I wonder if this is partly because the forwards aren't working out the blocks and leads as well as they have in past years so the options aren't as apparent for those trying to deliver. Which results in the "just kick it to Baz despite the fact he's triple teamed and out of form" option. And how many of those "set-play" goals have we seen in recent weeks, whereby a smaller player sharks a tap and snaps at goal. They've been a feature of past years but seem to be well down this year.

Our midfield couldn't surely get worse by having a different coach, but if the forwards can improve their structures by just a bit, it may create a few more chances. And that maybe needs Longmire back up that end of the ground where we know he's good.
