Our Pace..are we too slow?

The cortinas are overdue on their service record, and it is showing.

Difficult to start.
Slow accelaration.
Brakes are soft.
Wheels are tending to slip, esp. in wet. Some need a wheel alignment.
Steering is shaking, could be a reuslt of the wheel alignment issue.
The one of the main cylinders has warped and is performing poorly.
The new turbos are pinging away without generating much torque.
Some of the side panels are showing signs of rust. As are some of the newer ones (these may be made overseas).
The driver has been seen overheating occaisionally - Air condition needs to be installed.
The tow bar is becoming loose and can be dangerous, if the ball is greasy.
Not much else under the hood. Trade in may be required.

From where we were sitting I said to Aussie Ange that the boys looked sluggish, and were run off their feet. Collingwood were always on their man - we were always a few paces behind or nowhere near them at all. How many of our players are only training, lightly, once a week? I reckon it would be a higher number than any of us think. The Swans are not the fit team of old - our players are getting older and after having a few good years relatively injury free, its starting to catch up, thats only my opinion though.

I don't think we lack skill. As Liz & Ludwig have pointed out, the skills are generally good to excellent when we are winning. I think it's more of a confidence problem at the moment.

During the week I finally got around to watching the 2005 season highlights DVD. What struck me was how clean and precise we were towards the end of the season. Furthermore, Hall and O'Laughlin were consistently taking strong contested marks. It was basically the same side in '05 that took to the field on Saturday night. The difference was that the team that played on Saturday had no confidence, no vision, no intensity and no run.

But Saturday nights team didnt have Kennelly, LRT, Crouch, Williams or Ball - we missed Kennelly terribly.

I'd agree. Disciplined to take the short kick to the open man so it can make skills look good, causes a big problem though when there is no open man.
