I'd be very surprised if Bevo goes. With few other smallish defenders, he'll surely be given either Ablett or Chapman to mind - scary thought though that might be. Chapman probably makes most sense, leaving maybe B2 to tackle Ablett? LRT coming in makes this possible for without him there would be too many Geelong talls to cover without B2.

And I also very much doubt B1 will get the chop. Just because.

If Thornton is to come in, he will most likely be given a run-with role, not only because many youngsters get given that task in their early games (and not only at the Swans) but also because its a role he did with some note at u18 level. That means that finally McVeigh might have used up his runner-up credits from last year.

It's possible that Grundy will yet again make way for Davis but I'll be very disappointed if that happens. With no Hall, they finally have an opportunity to play Grundy as a true forward target rather than the decoy role he's been asked to play in his senior games so far this year.

Mathews and Monty must be two who will be looked at. Maybe even Schneider too, though he's probably done enough throughout the season to be spared after his very disappointing effort last weekend.

      I'd like to keep Grundy....

      But for mine;

      If it's dry
      In: Davis, LRT, Phillips
      Out: Hall, McVeigh, Bevan

      If it's wet
      In: Davis, Vogels, Phillips
      Out: Hall, McVeigh, Bevan

I hope Grundy stays in, especially with Hall out but I think either Scarlett or Egan will be too good for him. How about going for some height and plonk the Donk in the goalsquare?

?Hopefully with the weeks rest we will see him back next week for the Fremantle game.

?We spoke with Barry this morning and even with a few days to the game it was determined not to try and push on for this week.

?The groin soreness has been obviously restrictive and we just need to give him a week off.
Not wanting to sound like a complete moron, but didn't he just have a week off??? Wouldn't the smart move been to have him rest last week so that he could have had three weeks off????

Me smells a cover up of some description....

            If Roos is really serious:

            In: Davis, LRT
            Out: McVeigh, Hall

I'd keep Grundy and bring Vogels in too. With Hall out, this is the best opportunity to see both these guys in action in the same forward line. Might go a long way in gauging the relative potential of the two.

We can have MOL and Davo play support roles with a bit of run in the midfield.

              I'd like to see
              In: Davis, LRT, Vogels, Laidlaw
Out: Hall, Buchanan (inj), Bevan, B1 or Mathews

Would keep McVeigh, even though he's playing crap. Still think he's got enough talent to keep a regular spot long-term. But wouldn't feel bad at all if he were dropped.

Anyway, hard to see 4 inclusions. Probably 3 at the most.

I said something similar in another thread, common sense would have said to rest him last week so he really could get over any niggles.

He wasn't rested as Hall himself thought he'd be OK, it now seems that the decision may have been forced upon him somewhat.

And given Hall can only have a few years left, it is a chance to consider how to replace him.

as much as i hate to admit it, we're gunna find it hard to replace hally.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yep - a dominant forward is a very important ingredient in most successful teams and they are hard to find.

Have to keep Grundy! He finally gets a chance to play at FF where he has dominated in the reserves!

I reckon Flipper should get another shot to be at Grundy's feet and sweep up some spoils in F50.

Nicky D to return as well.

                              My Changes:

                              In Davis, Phillips
                              Out Hall, McVeigh

Bevan unfortunately will stay due to chapman/Ablett etc.

LRT is a possibility but it would most likely be at the expense of Reg which i don't see happening.
