Anyone have any details on todays game?
By the time we're ready to admit we've reached middle age, we're beyond it

Played in very cold conditions with occasional showers in front of 27 people, all of whom are involved with the respective clubs or related to the top up players.

Very interesting as regards Brennan...he is said to be an atrocious kick, but he obviously kicked straight 6 times. He is a really interesting case. He must have something to have been picked initially so high but BigFooty people bag the sh@@ out of him.

Just came on here to post that myself!

Looks like a close game this week. Percentage is going to take a bit of a bashing with results like that.

So much for Schneider's tight hamstrings. Suspect him being named in the best means he'll be back next week (which most of us won't have an issue with so long as its the "right" player making way).

LRT is noticeable in his absence from that best list. Does this mean he's still not done enough? Not sure that this week is a great week to bring him back given that playing him on Pavlich first up would probably be too tough a gig, and the Dockers don't really have another player he matches up well against physically. Unless, of course, they're tempted to plonk him in the other goal square....

It added atmosphere to the factual reports to follow. I could visualise the huddled shoulders in coats and the hail fellow greetings of the hardy and true supporters.

Those tight hamstrings of Scheids didn't appear to trouble him.

Schmidt and Laidlaw ought to be worried.

Any chance at least one of those players displaying very ordinary form in the ones going out for Schneids?

Just watched the first half of the Hawks V Woods game and both sides seemed to have unearthed some mid sized to tall running players who can play. Reid and Goldsack both look genuine top future players. Both sides have speed to burn with young players. Goldsack pick no 68 in 2006 draft, how come we missed on a guy with his build and pace. I forgot, Smokey Davis is in our 2's and will debut in 2012.

Surely we have some players with pace who can wrack up say 12-13 possessions a game to at least equal our snail squad in the one's.

If Brennan continues to play like that he would have to be the one promoted if we have a long term injury, given he was a high draft pick. Must be the one you punt on.

I'd put Jack and Rowe in the team before Brennan. That's the first game where Brennan has made any significant impact while Jack, in particular, has been doing it all year. And Brennan didn't do anything this week that Rowe didn't last - plus I think Rowe has more attributes than Brennan. Brennan's being played alternatively as a medium defender / medium forward, while is a pretty similar role to Laidlaw. They're both very good marks, but Laidlaw runs more, is quicker and kicks better.

As for Jack, I'd have him in the team at the moment in a flash if he were available. He's not a ready made product that is going to come in and wow us but he'd provide some genuine run and carry through the midfield, plus knows how to shark goals at the feet of the big blokes.

What about Thornton? I can't remember what was said about him in the past but I notice he gets mentioned in the best players quite a bit.

                        Laughable that Schneider was omitted.

Thornton is the one most suited to replacing McVeigh in that he's more of a running type midfielder and, based on junior football, can play either run-with roles (not going to suggesting tagging per se) or ball winning roles. His chance surely can't be far off. Must be next cab off the rank.

As for Schneider, I doubt his inclusion would have made the difference yesterday, surprising as his exclusion was. As I think I posted after the team was announced, I suspect someone decided he could do with a kick up the backside to re-ignite him to his earlier season form. If he truly was BOG today, suspect he'll be back in a flash. I reckon those listed best players are more often a hint as to who might get selected soon as a true reflection of the best players in any given game.
