With the way things have transpired over Round 15 - Geelong beating Collingwood - Port beating the Eagles and the Bulldogs beating Essendon we will be only ONE game behind the Fourth team, if we beat Carlton.

If Fremantle happen to beat the Kangaroos we would only be ONE game behind the third team!

If the gods smiled upon the Swans and Richmond beat Hawthorn then we are ONE game from Second position on the ladder!

So with all things going to plan at worst we are one game off third position - If the team lifts there is no raeson they cannot end up in the top four. It is in the hands of the Swans whether they are good enough to keep winning and end up in the top four or lose a couple and rely on "Mathematics".

No point thinking about the perms and comms of the ladder unless we can beat the Wiggles next week. (I am assuming, maybe foolishly, that we'll comfortably take care of the Bloooos this weekend).

Kerr will be back and possibly Cousins too (though the ease with which he did a hammie so soon after starting training with the team makes one wonder if they'd be daft enough to risk him in a game without giving him a couple of weeks solid competitive training). If Judd plays, he'll be a shadow of the player he normally is. They are certainly vulnerable and if the Swans - almost at full strength, though quite possibly without Hall - can't beat them, I don't think we have any claims on being a top 4 team.

Beat them, however, and the rest of the H&A looks fairly straightforward until the Pies and Hawks in the last two games. We could probably drop one of those and still squeeze into the top four if the West Coast are taken care of.

But first we have to do Carlton today...

First part has been accounted for although the first 10 minutes of the Carlton game was extremely frustrating. The fourth goal on the trot almost had alarm bells ringing!

Now, can the Swans turn up next week? A poor first quarter will be more costly

I think the fact that we are still talking about top 4 considering how badly they have played at times this year says a lot about the even-ness (read: mediocrity?) of the competition. We are very lucky to be still within reach of the top 4 in spite of our inconsistent form. Actually, this year is a little bit like 2005 when we were all frustrated when the team wasn't taking advantage of their opportunities in a fairly even comp in the first half of the year, but then we finally capitalised, thank god. This year will be tougher, and I'm still not sure if there are enough signs that suggest we can do the same again, but beat the Eagles next week and suddenly there's a chance that we might be more than just finals fodder.
