The Young Guns are worth a go

Having watched Laidlaw play his first game at Geelong, I really think it is time that Roos and the match committee have the guts to give a few more a game.

Believe me, we have talent in the Young Guns but because the Swannies have been on such a high for 3 years, they have suffered and are not getting a look in.

I'm sure Laidlaw will continue to improve now that he has been given a go but we all know that the Match Comittee will send him back and he will become stagnant, the same as Grundy and Moore have become. Back will come Schneider who is talented but cannot give 100 minutes a game and the Swannies will be the losers.

We have so many similar negative players in the seniors and aren't nurturing and rewarding the young talent in Young Guns.

We will lose another 3-6 at the end of this year as they become totally disillusioned.

I would like to see Thornton, Brabazon, Phillips, Laidlaw, Moore and Grundy at least given some quality exposure in the seniors.

Watching players like Matthews and in particular McVeigh on Saturday, surely some of our younger guns deserve a go.

Otherwise, we will not give this talent any inspiration for their future. How will we know hoe good this talent is if we don't give them a go. Surely they can't do any worse than some of the pretenders we have playing now.

There is nowhere to hide once you get out onto the paddock. Just watch McVeigh, he simply has not got what it takes.

Without putting some pressure on the senior players, the Match Committee will ensure we miss the 8. Its as simple as that.

To be fair, Schneider is one of our more attacking players. We don't have many of them...

I agree. What have we really got to lose in blooding some kids?

The problem I see is the player driven leadership group that will ensure senior players won't get dropped because the other platers wouldn't want to ditch on their mates.

Well Roos has to step in and drop a couple. And NOT come up with crap rumours about players being 'injured'. Or if they ARE injured, to come clean to the members about this all the time.

The ducks & drakes coming out of Driver Avenue gets somewhat tedious at times to be honest.

Try putting those young players names in a sentence without getting your face slapped.

I don't know about you. It sounds rather arousing after a while, don't you think (hey Cruiser)

I have made many gags about those names, but Dr Swan you have got it spot on my friend. Collingwood didn't have to sink completely to 16th to unleash an array of talent on the comp and in 2008, they will be a serious Flag favourite.

If we do stumble once more in 2007, then we should fast track these boys into senior footy to see what they are capable of at AFL level and the reality is, the victims should be (in particular order):

McVeigh (is he still young? Who cares, he's average)
                Monty (so out of form)
Ben (hard to deny him at the moment but he is not the future beyond 2009)
Everitt (expensive but we need the next ruckman to emerge)
Schneider (needs to get goal hungry)

Actually, I was quite impressed that Doctor Swan was able to put them in one sentence without getting his face slapped.
