Anyway, here's a couple of thoughts:

    1) The reserves reports are brilliant, but it often takes me a while to track them down now they live in their own sub-forum... can we bring them back to the chat forum ? Or at least post a link ? (If I'm just technolazy, please ignore)
    You'll always find them here

It's also on the sidebar RWO Menu.

      Hey Guys,

This week you take on premiership favourites Belconnen who have taken all before them since the opening 2 rounds. They thrashed Qbn by 109 points a fortnight ago and belted 4th place Eastlake 17-25 to 6-6 on the weekend. Even with names such as Coach - S. Maher, Fullback - P Raadts, On Baller - B. Knowles out for those 2 matches they did it in style.

Players to look out for and they have a few include -

Onballers - #19 R. Underwood, #27 G. Underwwod (these 2 brother are hard running in and under types who just get under the skin of the opposition), #14 C. Illet (classy player with excellent skills and can kick goals)
Forwards - #6 J. Bennett (very skillfull player who takes a good mark and is usually accurate in front of the sticks, #15 A. Ainger (full forward, only 20, takes the big mark, quick out of the blocks and is a reliable shot for goal)
Backs - #11 L. Bennett (captain of the side who leads from the front and is another who will niggle to annoy. Havent really seen him challenged physically so not sure if he is bluff or not), #37 J. Love (a bit of a link man who runs well off half back and has improved considerably this season)

Also #9 S. Henning goes pretty well (solid player who uses his muscle at times incorrectly.

All in all they are a well balanced, well coached side who run hard all day. I know against Qbn they wait and expect a turnover and have a few guys forward of the ball just waiting to be fed. Its a similar style to the Swans, they back there team mate and anticipate the ball coming to them heading towards goal. Will be the biggest test your young side will have.

Belconnen are the measuring stick and wont give your players the space to play as you did against Qbn. I did notice the Belconnen captain there watching on the weekend.
This was posted on BF in our reserves thread and I thought I would copy it here as it may be of interest to a few here for the ressies game on Saturday.

Lucky me. I used to get along to all the Port Melbourne games and see Sir Gerard Bennett destroying all-comers, but I'm afraid Canberra is a bit far to go.

Yay. The magoos are in Sydney this week.
Now Goodesy will have someone to sit with at the real footy.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

You don't need to get out of bed before midday this week!!

If you intend lounging around Saturday afternoon before heading off to Homebush, this is one week you should bite the bullet and get yourself there by 3:45pm. There is no Saturday afternoon AFL game on 10 or Fox, no footy to keep you on the sofa.

The reserves this week will be a cracker.

Belconnen are on top and in a real purple patch of form. You'd imagine the Swans will select as good a side as the rules allow them, so take the opportunity to go and see Vespa, Currie, Murphy, Meredith, White and other guys you haven't seen play in a game where I dare say for the first time in 3 or 4 years they will start as underdogs.

            See you there.
When our own Footy only finishes at 4.45pm, by the time you have a shower and our awards are done at the clubrooms it makes it a bit hard too get there before 6.45-7.00. Not everyone just cant be bothered turning up early
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

Hmmmm, well, it occurs to me that there are some of us who find an extremely full day or night of footy with two full games is a thing of joy, and have time to take it to the max, and there are some who don't for a million reasons. They are either unable to get there because they have other games to attend or have families who also need their attention (not unreasonable when you think of it), or perhaps because they don't know what they are missing. Countless reasons.

Me, I love the ressies. I get there at the start and settle down with the other fifty or so compatriots and enjoy myself. That's right. ENJOY. I often wonder why others are not here at the same time, but there you go. It works for me. It doesn't work for everyone.

I got to watch RoK, when I used to describe him as the blond brick with legs, he was in the goal square and there he stayed, mind you always on alert, always paying close attention, and quick to take off when need be. There difference between then and now is legion. I have watched his progress for years now. Its very satisfying. I watched the development of Mal, directing traffic and taking charge, and hugging myself knowing that we had a "keeper".

And that's why I really enjoy ressies. Its the start of something, not an end in itself.
