Reserves in AFL Canberra: Views from the other side

Check out the latest edition of the AFL Canberra record.

It contains two articles, one from David Wark (GM of AFL Canberra) and one opinion piece canvassing quotes from the other clubs about the Swans' dominance in recent years. Definitely worth a read.

Thanks for that link Ugg. Very interesting read.

Unfortunately those games are an inherent mismatch. Local Canberra people with 9-5 jobs and train on muddy ovals for a couple of nights a week up against full-time professional athletes with the best facilities money can buy. It doesn't do anyone any good - and unfortunately for the local clubs the gap between the Swans reserves and the rest of the league seems to be increasing even more. And I can imagine it would have a bit of a devastating impact on the local clubs to know they have no hope of ever winning a premiership.
It's an important reason why it's necessary to push for a return of the reserves competition. Unfortunately when you're winning by 200 points every week it's far too easy to cut corners. And it's no good for the teams that are being belted either.

From my perspective, and I suspect you'd get a similar response from most of the others if you put this up in the Sydney local footy board, I certainly wouldn't want the Swans reserves in their current form playing in the Sydney AFL.

A very interesting read UGG, thanks.

I would like to know what criteria is used when publishing the team list given some of the names there?

      Davis, Dempster, Richards?
We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.
