Kudos to McVeigh as well, he certainly seemed to be having a red hot go and (I thought) turned in one of his better games of the season.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

5 times according to SEN. I think Freo hit it twice as well.

Hence why he keeps getting picked each week. But that creates the problem that most of us have with him, he doesn't perform to the same level each week, but keeps getting picked regardless because of the "off chance" he'll put in an effort like today's which prove his worth to the side.

on the other 2 jury is still out
McVeigh I felt was improved on last week and save for the post should of had 2 goals to show for his improved effort, he'll live to fight another week. Bevan on the other hand yet again proved he isn't up to the level and should either make way for Crouch's return or we do the right thing for the future of this club and give Laidlaw a senior spot which would be a marked improvement on Bevan.

As for the rest of the team I like Goodes and Kirk as the BOG's. C. Bolton did very well to keep Pavlich out of the game (ditto Leo keeping Tarrant out of game as well). Fosdike played well in patches and Schmidt showed YET AGAIN why he is a senior footballer. Up forward O'Keefe played very well providing the link option of old and would of been the third BOG and Schneider returned to the seniors well. Pity both didn't kick goals from their many set shot opportunities, but the weather played a part in that and 30 plus scoring shots is a good thing in a win in the wet.

Kennelly returned well and showed why we miss him so much when he is out and Malceski was Malceski. Dempster also did OK which was an improvement on the past two matches. Also top marks to Nick Davis for his game in the midfield. His clean kicking out of pack was important and he toughed out an entire match even when he went down with an ankle injury, that might not be a standout possessions or goals game for him, but it was a standout team game and one that relied on pure guts to get though it. Clearly one of the Best out there today.

Its a win, not our best win in terms of performance, but one that will lift the side. There was still a propensity to overuse the ball by hand but thankfully Freo didn't really punish us.

Kirk was just outstanding all day, you could see he wanted to win this one for Micky and Goodesy by his reaction post-match. Keeping Hasleby to single digits is amazing.
What a brilliant tackle by Micky O on Hayden. Although Schneider didn't goal from that (d'oh!) it seemed to spark the side.
Kudos to Benny M who shut out the dangerous Bell.
Hall showing signs he can get back to something approaching his best.
Bevan tried hard, but all he really proved was he's not going to make it as a small defender.

The moment I became pretty sure we were going to win was after Kirk kicked that goal in the 3rd quarter. Can't remember a more demonstrative celebration from him after a goal.

(Have to admit, the umpies gave me a bit of a scare halfway through the final quarter though )

Schneider, ROK, C Bolton, Richards were all very good players, notwithstanding Schneider's misses. Jude wasn't bad either. McVeigh actually looked pretty dangerous up forward - he played that role to good effect last season so if Davis is fit enough to spend extended periods in the midfield, it could be a win-win to switch the two around more frequently.

But it was one of those games when pretty much everyone put in - a nice change from recent weeks when too much has been left to too few.

              RIP Chris Connolly.

Great effort by the Swans today. Even the RWO punching bags, Matthews and McVeigh, had decent games. I thought McVeigh did some good things in the second half and Benny kept Bell out of the game.

Should beat Carlton next week and the Eagles are vunerable, so a big a couple of weeks coming up for the Swans.

McVeigh played the game of his life. His positioning front and square was exceptional. Tends to run their too fast, therefore a dodgy bounce leaves him way past the ball, but he seems to have found some footy smarts.

His disposal is still pathetic. Need to improve..Can he improve ?

Freo have a great list. Just need a good coach. New coach, some good pick up this draft, they'll be a power in 2008+.

Maybe wet weather footy is McVeigh's thing? Clearly his best game of the year. Jude's too. A pleasure to get the four points but we were a 5+ goal better side all day - given what they had on the line the Dockers were very poor indeed.

Nice win in the end but we just letting sides back in with a chance.

Mcveigh had a chance to have a blinder but let himself down badly with his finishing. Glaringly pulled out of a contest also.

Agree with what most other posters have said but one problem we had in the first half was giving away stupid frees very deep in our forward line. Let the Dockers off too easily when we had them under extreme pressure. How stupid was Teddy's 50 metres.

Hooray Barry Hall played in front, surprise, surprise, things started to happen for him.

Kennelly was totally spent in the last Q and I noticed that he constantly turned onto his left foot and didn't do too much straight line running. Maybe the run will do him good but I was really expecting him to break down. Looked quite proppy at times. Looked to get through the game so hopefully the decision to play him paid off.

On one of my favourites, Jude, he was finally serviceable in the second half after a pretty ordinary first half. Might have had the ultimatum put to him at half time.

I might be overdoing it a bit on Schmidt but when he came on (I think he was off, stand corrected) in the 3rd Q it was about the time we got our run on, he got some very important and clean touches. Presents well and makes space to receive.

                      Liked Davo's second half.

SEN's 3 commentators gave it Kirk 3, Fosdike 2, Schneider 1 and all 3 picked those 3 as their 3 BOG.

After the game apparently Daniel Harford named a player out there today as the worst player in the AFL but refused to elaborate on air.

For mine it could only be one of two.

Bell or Farmer With the votes i'm not so sure,in a few of the tipping sites they had Schneiderman as BOG for the Swans and BOG over all.Kirk and Fossie for sure in the votes but i'm not too sure on the 3rd.Schmidt was very good today and i reckon by next year he will start every game barring injury of course.

I don't think so. His hands in close are superb. He is the type of guy we need getting into the packs because he does something constructive. He was one of the major players in our turn around against Collingwood towards the end, and again today he got involved.

Will be a very good player IMO. Is not overly quick (running), but makes up for that with footy smarts.

Harris (Roos) and Mitchell aren't quick either and both have the similar chunky build that Schmidt has. If he could become even close to the player that Mitchell is, doubt any of us would be complaining!

Would love to see him spend more time in the centre square.

I love sticking the boot in to McVeigh but thought yesterday was his best game for the year. Also thought Ben Matthews' game on Bell was pretty good.

I found TLM votes very tricky this week. Thought B2s game on Pav was good.
