    HUGE problem this saturday night...

I stupidly agreed months in advance to sign up to a murder mystery night without looking at the AFL Fixtures calendar. As luck would have it, the game I absolutely can not miss happens to fall on this same night.

Can I please get some suggestions on how to get out of this bind. Am happy to forfeit the $40 "Whodunnit" fee to watch our boys belt the living crap out of the egirls, but I need a suitably serious excuse (the person who organised this would be VERY disappointed I piked). Does this make me a bad human being? Perhaps a debate for a different forum though.

    Please help me!

ps. If no suitable suggestions are umm.. suggested.. then I am willing to pay someone to record the game for me, preferably in digital format, but VHS is fine as well. First preference would be to watch the game live though.

    silly.
tell the truth. the truth will set you free.
your friend will probably hate you, but if they were your true friend, they would understand that the swannies are far more important and let you off attending.
if that fails, go to the murder mystery night ... it can't be nearly as bad as attending a theatre restaurant.
i'll tape the game for ya if you want.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

          No, you're dead.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Maybe I can be the murdered character and not have to turn up at all? Brilliant!

There is usually a torrent available of our games the next day - around 1GB download

I dont like how you use the word "usually". I've found previous games on demonoid but they were few and far between

Now you can stay home guilt free and watch the footy

OK - sometimes. There are 9 of our 2007 games up so far - though some no longer have seeds.

I'd imagine that this big game will be captured and seeded, thanks for the tip. Now how to avoid knowing the result before I watch the replay.. thats unpossible methinks!

Don't tell the the truth !!!!!

I am telling you they will not understand !!!

I tried this once for an event, the people really liked me and had been talking up my participation for weeks. When the date came along I pulled out cos I Had to go watch the Bloods live at the SCG.

They still resent me for it 7 years on !!!

Get someone you trust to copy it, make an estimate of the time the murder night will finish, have someone call you with an "emergency" just as the murder night is wrapping up...., then jump in the car and straight to your copy of the game and hey presto you are watching the Swans live or near live, just like the AFL promised you !!!!
