That letting a player who hasn't played a single game for nearly a year come in and pick up 38 possessions is nothing short of disgusting. A truly pathetic, disgraceful effort from our much vaunted "never say die" Swans.

Seriously, what a joke! This unmatch fit player had more possessions than Goodes, Ablett, Schneider and Schmidt COMBINED.

It's totally inexcusable. It is simply embarrassing and truly the one demonstration (as if we needed it) that we are simply not up to it this year.

I've lost the faith. I say (again) change the team and at least see if we can do better. This side cannot possibly win the flag so we have nothing to lose except a crppy draft pick for finishing 5th.

I did mention that I was very disappointed with our efforts on Cousins. I find it pathetic actually that all the WC players returning after long lay offs played better than the Swans players.

What I cant believe is that we didnt try to rough him and Judd up good and proper. It has never been our style, but all it would of taken with Cousins i think would have been a few words and got him off his game a bit. It may of backfired but I didnt see anything in what occured to say that it wouldnt have been worth a try. The amount of times he got easy ball from the back of a hitout or clearence was just stupid. Only time he wasnt getting the back a lot was when McVeigh was on him cause McVeigh was getting some possesions on him and making him work. Cousins had a very easy night really- I think we should of tried to make him run hard to. He looked far too comfortable in the 4th quarter to me even if he is fit, he isn't match fit and it should of shown.

Judd was the one I couldnt believe though- sure he didnt have his proficient game but we really should of tested him out properly. Made him run a lot or whatever but pushed him hard. But from what I saw we didnt make much of an effort.

I couldn't careless if he's done well to overcome this drug problem, they really should have given him a barrage and really take him to the sword. I reckon if Hall was playing that might have happened. It just seemed too cute, as though they respect eachother so much and appreciate the rivalry.

I'd have sledged the mickey out of him and just roughed him and Judd up something severe.

What's going to happen? He got 38 possessions and didn't even play a full game so he couldn't have gone any better...

Maybe we should watch some of the Hawthorn v Essendon clashes of the 80s' and learn from that...

Ummm, I'm pretty sure he was match fit. He wouldn't be able to play like that if he wasn't.

No doubt he is physically fit but that was his first game since pre-season. In the first quarter he was virtually running without an opponent picking up easy kicks, when he should have had someone wearing him like a glove and driving him into the turf everytime he touched the ball.

We have a coach who is unwilling or unable to shift gears, have a fresh thought as situations develop during a game, & as this team ages. His inflexible mindset / lack of ideas ranges from the absolutely awful, constant reference to " Hally" ...to the regular resurrection of Grundy...to the ongoing preference for Bevan / Dempster (I still say their combined worth is 0.5 of a player) over "One game Laidlaw" & some others who might have a future if they ever get a chance. If anything we now know that Vogels will never make it as a regular / high minutes player. Rule his name out for the rest of the year & get some new blood in there Grundy too.

Speaking of, Bevan and McVeigh need to stop over-committing and getting turned inside out by opponents, they are thoughtless too often those guys.

I think it would be a big mistake to employ sledging and other puerile tactics. Our professionalism is perhaps our strongest point and one that wins the respect of other teams. That's the last thing we want to do. If we started employing those sort of stunts, we would just be another Carlton, and unlikely to ever see finals footy again.

I understand where you are coming from Ludwig and agree our professionalism on the field is second to none. But I'd still like to see us win and I think if we had of niggled him as such we might have been able to get his concentration off footy and put him off his game. Like I feel in such a big game we could of pulled out some gamesmanship. I am against sledging but you can't just let him run all over the top of you either like he did. We are too pretty sometimes I feel- sometimes you have to play some "dirty" football almost. We should of pushed him hard and made him work rather then seemingly for much of the night being resigned to him getting as much ball as he wanted.

I bet though that he will get some this week, and it might just show whether it would of maybe helped or not to niggle him a bit. I like our line of trying to be professional but the business is also about winning footy games, especially at this time of year. Will be interested to see how the iceman goes this weekend coming.

I think he may cop a fair bit from the crowd, as it will only be a small proportion of the crowd, that will be cheering for him, this week.

I don't condone sledging and agree, one of the reasons I love the Swans is their sense of fair play and playing the ball and not the man. I was just giving advice on roughing up Cousins thats all ha

Now to Cousins, I hate his arrogance, his lack of remorse for embarrassing AFL and his general flippant attitude and show pony ways. I get a general sense of satisfaction when he's on the end of a loss, ANY LOSS.
