Its a wonder you haven't suggested giving Bucky another shot at it. These blokes belong in the footy museum like Phar Lap - stuffed
I'll save my rhetorical questions for a more appropriate forum next time....

But thanks for the insight to your evil genius.

Don't need to be a genius to see that.
Harvey, O'Donnell, Bond, Sumich and McKenna all have strong claims. I think Horse has slipped a fair way down the list to be honest.

Inclined to agree with that... Assistant coaches were never my forte!

If Laidly moves on or is moved on wouldn't he be snapped up by the Kangas? Premiership player and premiership assistant coach. He would be in front of the WA contingent surely. Harvey and O'Donnell come out of the Sheedy stable which looks dated.

Yep, agree with that. My main concern is how much of Horses focus will be taken off of the Swans and onto preparing 3 year plans for 4 different teams including 1 hour presentations for each one, not to mention interviews.............

He'd be a big chance for the Kangas job but I can't see them letting Laidley go, can you?

As far as Harvey and O'Donnell go, Harvey moved to Freo to broaden his experience and would be favoured to get either the Freo or Bombers job.

O'Donnell has done most of his apprenticeship under Leigh Matthews at Brisbane.

It is possible that Laidley would move to Freo. He's from the west, they have a more talented list than the Kangas and more money. Freo might just take him as a seasoned coach who has done well with a limited list (this year). He is also a disciplinarian which they need desperately. Sumich is associated with the most undisciplined club possibly of any code in the country and Harvey was ko'ed in a punch up in a Darwin pub recently. O"Donnell would be a shot in the dark given the off field issues of the club. The Whiz, Tazz and Solomon must be a coaches nightmare. Just think that Freo might be loking for someone to tighten them up both on and off the field. If Laidley goes west, horse is a big chance with the Kangas.

That sounds very, very logical. You have to wonder if Longmire is prepared to wait another two and a bit years to replace our fearless leader and someone with his history at the Roos would be coming in with ready built respect.

Of course it does...look at the poster's nickname! I think CC is trying to get us a message...he KNOWS something!

I hope it isn't so, though. I like Longmire and we can't afford to lose another assistant coach.

Hahaha, I hadn't noticed that. I totally agree about Longmire, I'd always hoped he'd follow on from Roosey into the top job.

If John Longmire is the next supercoach don't you think he would have taught Jude Bolton how to kick by now??

Of all the current people around the club Brett Kirk looks the likeliest. No doubt he will need a specialist kicking coach to assist though.

Reckon if Longmire moves on Roos will promote from within and give Allison the midfield coaching job. He has done a pretty good job with the twos.

I reckon Daniher would make a brilliant assistant coach. The other AFL coaches regularly nominate him as the best prepared in the AFL.

Nevertheless, he'll be aiming higher in the short term at least.
