A couple of those are really in the same category as Headland and White.
McPharlin was highly rated by the Hawks but they were desperate to get their hands on a top pick that year and Croad wasn't enough to secure it for them from Freo. They added McPharlin to the mix but quite reluctantly. He certainly wasn't moved on for attitude or lack of ability reasons.
Motlop was another who was always rated skill wise. There were some question marks over his attitude when he was at the Roos, and when he declared he wanted to move, they probably didn't fight it hard. But again, never any talent question marks.
Other re-treads you could add to your list are James Begley, Damien Cupido, Michael Stevens, Dylan Smith, Brad Ottens, Trent Croad and Lawrence Angwin. And probably Richard Cole just sneaks in too (number 11 or 12 pick so almost top 10).

That's not how I remember the McPharlin deal - he was part of the Croad trade to Freo but a residual part only (as it turned out much more valuable to Freo than Croad but that wasn't the intention at the time). Motlop was traded for #28 & #46 so yes he headed home but for a fraction of his original "price".
I did actually mention Cupido (and Cole!) - I didn't include Croad & Ottens as I saw both of them as actual "trades" (ie, the club tradng them got similar value to what they "paid"). I forgot Angwin started at the Crows! And I think we can safely put Begley and Smith in the failures column as I don't recall either of them in any of their club incarnations!
Brennan's kick was shocking and really embarrassing. I hope his kicking will improve, although I doubt it based on our current lack of basic skills in general.
i was sitting behind the goals from where he was taking his shot at goal, goodsey went up to him before he took the shot then i think it was like ok everyone is watching lets not muck this up.......and then it was the shank to make dunks proud, then again aftersome of those richmond oobotf it was a point atleast. anyway it was what he did after the shank that inpressed me with the tackle and handball to set up a goal. there is hope for him i think after all we was a top 10 pick but so was mcveigh......time will tell but he looks a tough unit and is quick....get the skills up he will be very ok
His kicking skills will never improve immensely, he just needs to live with it. Hawthorn cut him because apart from his injuries, he was/is a shocking kick.
Dunks never improved, Jack Daniels never improved but they worked on what they could do well and made sure they did it VERY well.
Brennan is so much like Dunks it is scary. Shocking kick, very very good mark and a solid as build.
Brennan's field kicking in the reserves has not been too bad this year. Last night his field kicking was 'helicopterish' at best, probably due to nerves and not being used to the pace of the game after being out of the top level for so long.
No doubt he's a 'keeper' and as the rest of the team get used to him and realise his limitations you will see lots of runaround plays with better kicking teammates, as we saw with Dunks.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
Boy...2 decent handpasses & a bit of enrhusiasm was all I saw...we do not need a poor mans Kirk to rebuild on!
For all that I'd give him a couple of chances to see if he has any other kick than mongrel in his bag...don't bet on it...even Dunks would spew at what we saw last night.
To be fair to Brennan, awful as that kick was (and another about 5 minutes earlier when he missed a shot on goal from a play-on situation), even by his lowly standards that was bad. He can do better than that.
I didn't see anything in his game last night to make me excited that we've found another 100 gamer from the bargain bin - he didn't look overly quick to me and his bulk and aggression were probably his biggest assets. But nor do I think you can make any kind of judgement on players until you've seen them play a few games just to start. He probably did enough relative to Dempster in the 2s to keep his spot for another week.
