After the Lions demolition of the the Pies tonight, do we have something to worry about in round 20 at the Gabba??
Wow...Brissy Lions!!

But the Lions have NOT beaten us since 2004 from memory. The traditionally play terribly against us.
Let's hope that continues when we travel up to Brizzie.

i prefer to think of it as having less to worry about the week after.
but that's stupid thinking....then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

They could well be playing to win the last finals position from the Swans.
This would be an astonishing achievment by the Lions after such a short time rebuilding from 4 premierships.
It would also by an abysmal achievment by the Swans after playing in the last two Grand Finals.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again, last nights result (Birssy V pies) was bad for us. It now means another team is vying for a finals spot, just like we are. It also means that they'll have a lot more to play for in a few weeks time.Comment

In terms of making the top 4, where you need to be to make a serious tilt at the flag, it was a bonanza given the Pies 'soft' run into the finals.
If you are worried that Brisbane might tip us out of the finals altogether, well if we are fighting with Brisbane for 7 and 8 spot, it's irrelevant, we're shot for the flag.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Garbage.

Read the post you quote, went downstairs to make coffee and was then coming back to post almost the same as you.
Our destiny now pretty much is in our own hands as far as the top 4 is concerned. Before Collingwood's loss it wasn't. I am not convinced we're good enough to beat all of St Kilda, Brisbane, Hawks and Pies in the next month. But unless we are, there is no way we are good enough to beat the Eagles or Cats when it matters.Comment

I can't see us making the four. Next week against Melbourne is the only 'should win' we have for the rest of the year. Collingwood, Hawthorn, StKilda and Brisbane are all top 8 material - We have the worst record against top 8 sides out of all the sides who are in the 8 at the moment.
How many times this year have we played well against genuine top 8 sides? Once, twice maybe?
Our run home is a lot tougher than people seem to think, 5th-8th is the most realistic outcome.
And as you mentioned BBB, Collingwood's run home is very friendly, so I can't see us displacing them in the 4 anyway.
If I'm wrong and we do make the top 4 then I'll eat humble pie, but I don't think I'll be wrong.Comment

The point is, we could win all 5 of our remaining games and still miss the 4 if Collingwood won last night. That result means if we win all our games we will finish above Collingwood and will make the top 4, even if they win all their games apart from Rd 21, which given their draw is feasible.
If you still think last nights Coll/Bris result was bad for Sydney, well..........Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
