Winning the games you have to - RWO Senior Match report - Sydney vs Richmond

Des flew in from Vancouver this week especially to write us a RWO match report. Before the game he claimed he might still be a little jet-lagged. Read his account and work out whether he was or not.

As always, Des (and the rest of us) would love to hear any feedback you have.

    Make them humorous;

Dont get me wrong, it is good of people to take time, but we can read the same in the papers.

The good thing about 'independent' fan sites is that you can bag your own team and the oppo in a humurous way.

        Well written Des.
Not sure I agree wtih your best tho' for either team. Thought C Bolts was superb on Richo, Hall was back to his bustling best and created loads of opportunities when the ball came into the 50.
Nathan Brown didn't rate a mention and Hall gave McGuane a lesson.

It is an interesting list. One bit of site feedback may be to alter the "Sydney Best" section to read "Author's favourites"?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

            Solid report until...........Swans best - J McVeigh
I counted 5...yes 5 turnovers from his mainly ineffective possessions, not to mention the predictable unwillingness to attact a contest (ie running back with the flight of a high ball, metres out from goal...pulls out when he could of marked....SOFT !!) Thats the difference between him and say...Bevo. McVeigh shows glimpes of talent, inbetween shocking disposal, but no courage. There is no way he was one of the swans best.

Agree. Don't know what game you were watching Des but McVeigh, Richards, Malceski and Brennan were not even close to being among our best.

Yep, not sure how Hall and Goodes weren't in the best. Did Brennan get a sympathy vote??

With a "Best" list like that, how the hell didn't Mathews get a spot?

Maybe Des was watching the wrong game on Saturday night.

thanks for the report Des, i read every one i can get my hands on, yours was a worthwhile read, a bigger picture somewhere would have been good, ie we lost by 2 goals to WCE in perth without Hall and kennelly, we lost to The cats by 3 goals without hall. The Swans certainly played with more mongrel, more dodging, weaving and bustling than they have all season. WCE always have one or more players running past a mark or a hand ball or a free kick and it often results in a score. Big improvement from MMM, and even Grant from the Roos is cabable of a shank. The Swans as usual are ramping it up towrds Sept. Looking forward to it.

Heh, I actually was asked if I wanted to include a "best" list, and declined as that would have left me open to ridicule because I always manage to leave someone obvious out.

Then someone suggested that perhaps we include a "worst" list to see if anyone is paying attention...

I'll be damned, sometimes people read these things!!

Also apologise I didn't put a lot of context around the recent matches, I'd missed watching the last 3 games, so didn't feel confident reporting on anything other than what I'd seen

cheers for the feedback guys. I might write another report at some point.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
