    Thoughts on Monty?

It was good to see Monty back on the track. He certainly looked more focused and more sure of his possessions.

I hope this is the beginning of his return to form. I have been a harsh critic throughout 2007 only because I really want him to play to his known standard.

Any alternative thoughts on his return?

It was great to see him back

I certainly feel more comfortable with him in the side, especially around the stoppages and I reckon the result might have gone our way out west if he was in the side instead of NOG

So hopefully he can regain his touch in time for September

Monty adds a bit of spark around the stoppages and still has the ability to
get the ball out and moving. For a small bloke he makes his prescence felt in the hard going, which was something we missed against the eagles.
Although Cousins could beat him for pace, IMHO I believe he could have
negated some of the impact that Cousins had. We definitely look a better
team with him in the side.

Cousins had about the same impact as Mr Yawn would with 40 possessions. Kerr was much more damaging with half the disposals. He got alot of the ball, but didnt hurt us too badly considering.

We have missed the canons run through the middle. Was great to see him tuck the ball under his arm and take off. He is an important player if we are to make a charge. Much more valuable than the similarly rated Schneiderman if you ask me.

That's a strange/interesting one on Ablett who was reported to have the Lurgi. You would think the trip over to Perth would have just about wiped him out.
Yet no Buchanan who was fit enough to kick 7 in the 2's.

Anyway Buchy's second half showed me that his zip is back and I would expect a good finish to the season from him.

Bucky was alright. Definitely showed some sheer pace breaking the lines but didn't get much of the pill. Will be given another week with Schmidt likely to be the omission for Ablett (who i don't think should be an automatic in).

Different players who look the same. Fair enough when people compared them when they first started out....apples and oranges at the moment.

In 2005 Monty was a better player than Ablett Jnr...has fallen away somewhat since then

His pace away from stoppages the other night was back to his best. Hopefully a spell in the 2s has done wonders for his head and he find out waht he needs to do to dominate again.

                LOVE HIM

I actually thought Monty was above average at best with this game. He clearly has confidence issues going for set shots at goal, I cant believe that he marked it in the pocket, but still proceeded to pass the ball instead of having a shot which resulted in a turn over. He needs more goal kicking tuition me thinks.

All about attitude.... For mine, it looks like Monty has his in the right place finally.

He seemed a lot more desparate and a lot more committed to the ball. He wanted to prove himself and he did. He was running strongly (And straight), and tackling like a Demon. The Monty we like to see.

He wasn't our best, but he wasn't our worst.

A good comeback game but further work required.....
