Who will want out at season end?

Trading time is not far away and I have a feeling there may be a couple of Swans Reserves players putting their hands up for a move.I definately would not blame any of them as I don't feel some have had a fair go in Sydney.I know a couple of them with Under 18 mates who were lower draft picks have been playing regularily since being drafted.
Some boys have a big decision ahead of them, that's if the club doesn't make it for them.

I hope Paul Bevan asks to be traded.
    Ed Considine's day out - Round 3, 16th April 1995.
11 Kicks, 13 Handballs, 8 Marks, 1 Goal, 1 Behind, 1 Tackle, 1 Hitout, 3 Brownlow votes (his only votes)

He won't ask for a trade, but Matthew Laidlaw will be absolutely bemused that he's only played 1 game this season.

come on, a guy can wish can't he?!!

But yeah, I agree with Laidlaw. I'm worried that we'll lose him... and I truly believe he's a keeper.... I think we've all been a bit bemused as to why he's only had the one game. And I must say that he was quite respectable in that one game in trying conditions, against the top team in the comp.

The annoying part is that guys like bevan, grundy and now even brennan seem to be above him in the pecking order.... and I just cannot for the life of me figure out why....

Add Kieran Jack to that list.

If Laidlaw isn't a better footballer than Jack then I'll walk east.

I think Keiran and Matt have vastly different roles to play on the field and it's about the vacancies as they occur.

I've never run a footy club so as far as I know, the guys at the top do a good job prepping the club for contingencies and the boys to be ready to step up.

Sydney doesn't have the fertile buckets that WCE or ACFC have. We do ok with our non-household name stocks.

I don't blame any young guy who's been toiling away in the 2s who might want a start at a struggling club because you've got to have you chance in "The Show" and the pay packet that goes with that.

A word of warning though, chances are, those guys may not be up to AFL standard and if they moved to Melbourne, they would be playing off the bench in the VFA.

As far as I know none of our current youngsters forged such a reputation as a junior that another club would seek to trade for them. There are such few trades done nowadays that its highly unlikely any club would trade a pick or fringe player for anyone in our reserves team.

If they are offered a new contract they will sign because the risks of not signing and being left without a club are too high. And I'm sure the club wouldn't re-sign a player unless they thought they are going to make it.

Should a player want out, the way the draft works these days, their best hope is the rookie draft and even if they are picked up they are back in the same, or worse, position that they are in Sydney.

                    Here we go again

Fossie has been our most consistent midfielder all season so why would we trade him? He'll play out his career at the Swans without a doubt.

As for Doyle, who knows. What might save him is the fact you can't have too many ruckmen on your list and as far as I can tell we only have 3 who, when fit, are currently of AFL quality. Then again the club may just decide his body isn't up to it and move on.

I'm a big fan of Fossie, I only mentioned his name because he been put forward that many times in past years that he surely be put forward again

Yes i did give him a big wrap yesterday, I dont wont him to go at all. But the question is what will the club decide, I'm only taking a punt, I dont have inner sanctum knowledge like yourself.

We'd be deadset mad if we traded Fossie... Unless WCE wanted a straight swap for Judd then maybe its worth looking at!! But we all know that aint happening. Maybe Fossie 4 yrs ago was trade bait but since about 2005, apart from Kirky, he has been our most consistent midfielder.

As for the younger blokes in the 2's not getting a run, I think they have the right to look around if they can. Unless you're the coaches bestest buddy (Matthews, Bevan etc) they aint getting a run. But lets be honest, who from another club has seen them play?? Its not like they are running round in the VFL everyweek for others to see. Unless a certain club has an eye on them the chances of a trade are very slim and taking a punt in the draft is their only viable option. Sad but true unfortunately...

With 5 rounds and hopefully a finals campaign to get through this season, it seems a bit premature to be having this discussion.
