    Voss gets cold feet?

Why did Voss, "the hottest property" around, suddenly get cold feet, and pull out of the race to step into a Senior coaching role.

    Competition too hot?
Realises that he has no experience compared to the other candidates?

    Won't move to Freo?
Doesn't want to take on 2 basket case teams?
Knows that he can't replace the Sheedy Lovefest and will be always compared to the master coach?

Now that's a reason most blokes would understand.

And perhaps he has his heart set on coaching the Lions in a couple of years.

I hope the Swans are sounding him out as an assistant. While 15 other clubs will be trying, I just hope we're in the game.

Maybe it just all came on too suddenly.

Quite Possibly, you'd think he'd be trying to get an assistant gig under Matthews, to get some experience.

The experience gained as an assistant, at any club, would have to put him in a better position to take the step into a senior role.

Surely he remembers Tim Watson's coaching career.

I believe no club would seriously take him on as senior coach anyway. How would he go trying to install discipline into a club when he is about to be facing assault charges in court? He is kidding himself if he is ready to take on the main gig. Carlton probably interviewed him and laughed. Freo probably didn't even bother, and Essendon would have given him the courtesy to apply, but then said "nice try, but no thanks". Melbourne might be the only club stupid enough to take him on, but I think they have Connolly lined up.

I actually think it was all a bit of bluster initially from Vossy. Reality hit when it looked like a club may seriously consider him, after Pagan and Sheedy were sacked.

I'm not sure if Vossy is up to the task of coaching, but given his current profile he is valuable from a marketing perspective.
