Grundy will he make the grade

I seen enough last week to think he will. He seems to have good foot skills just needs gametime I think he is a better long term prospect than Vogels.
I think Vogels will be cut/traded next year I can't see both Grundy and Vogels surviving especially since a few Rookie's should be elevated next year.

Although he looks untidy,I actually like the way he moves.He seems to cover alot of area and I can see a future for him.A good pre season,especially in the gym.will do wonders for him.

He was very ordinary yesterday with at least one of his @@@@ ups resulting in a goal directly.... (3rd quarter, dropped it stone motherless, no pressure, centre of the ground, turn over, goal...). There was another cple of times that he looked completley lost and was more of a hinderance than an asset to the back line...

And the week before he was just as bad if not worse....

Though only possible excuse is that he's just not used to playing back.... Perhaps time to pull the pin on the shifting him back experiment?

its clear he isnt a dunkley, my opinion is he aint got what it takes. bring on the big jw next yr and maybe faulks will bulk up a bit, there may lie our answer, but in grundy it aint

A footy club is a bell curve of players from @@@@ to average to elite. Consigning a player to the screapheap at the age of 21, particulary a young key position player, because he does not blitz in his first 10 games is laughable.

I think he will make it and end up somewhere above average, which is just fine for me.

Dunkley wasn't a Dunkley until things finally clicked for him in the 2006 season. He then maintained his form as a very good fullback until he retired.

Based on exposed form in the twos, Grundy is a far better key back prospect than either Faulks or White. Sure, he's had longer to develop so it's not an entirely fair comparison. And either of those two could step up more readily to senior football when they get a chance. But based on actual visual evidence to date rather than speculation, there is nothing yet to suggest they will.

I still reckon, though, that if we're looking for a big, strong, mobile and disciplined key defender, Sam Rowe could well be it. He has the advantage of being a couple of inches taller than Grundy - and to be fair to Reg, he had a significant height / weight disadvantage against Holland yesterday and it takes time to learn how to compensate for such handicaps.

In his first 13 games, Grundy has 56 kicks 39 marks and 30 handballs

Ben Rutten in his first 11 games, 61 kicks 47 marks and 57 handballs. Better than Grundy, but not much better, especially given Grundy has been on and off the bench for many of his games.

They both have similar physical characteristics and I think come in from a similar background (Rutten was a rooky promotion started playing at a similar age).
