    Centre Pitch at Manuka

    What the....?

I couldn't believe my eyes watching the game this afternoon on TV. The centre pitch was not up to standard and thank god it didn't cost us. That may have been ok 15 years ago but not today.

I was praying none of the boys would get injured out there. Can you imagine what would have happened to our chances this year if Spida or Jolly did a knee??

Kirky nearly had half his head scrapped on there thanks to Mclean. Mclean is a sensation. Goes on Kirk, hones in on his weakness (his a fly weight really) and executes and Kirk can't get into the game after that slam.

Manuka needs to be scrapped from AFL plans if that pitch remains. $780M from broadcasting and they can't organise a safe working environment for their highest paid employees.

How about the height the maggots got with their centre bounces? Proof how hard that centre square was. But that cricket wicket will always be there. The AFL lost their chance of a decent venue in Canberra when they ignored the place for years, and thus allowed the rugby codes to have Bruce Stadium retangularised.

Pitch problems apart, I love going to the footy at Manuka. Any venue that sells ice cold cans of Melbourne Bitter gets my thumbs up. Just have to remember can holders next time I go in August, to avoid frost bite I had to use my scarf!

Cans? I thought they had been banned from AFl/League games!!! It is just too tempting to throw at a white or yellow maggot LOL

It is quite noticeable in the reserves games at Manuka that players deliberately avoid the cricket pitch area.

How was the traffic? Any issues. Considering that Canberra is a planned city i would think it didn't take you long to get to the ground or leave

No it wasn't too bad. Took 3 hours to get to the North Shore with a drive-thru Maccas run included.

I hope I wasn't one of the lunatics! I am a bit of a speed demon though. I thought there would be more police with all the snow fields traffic, but didnt see one on the way down or back.

lol nice chorus of songs you had going up the back Missy.

All in all a good trip down and back, a solid but not spectacular win against a side that often let Sydney players with a open paddock in front of them.

I'm with you ORB... Couldn't believe that I could get Melbourne OR Carlton cans... unopened even... Shove them in the jacket and waltz back to the seats without having to worry about spilling the cold beverage all over my already cold hands.... It was almost like being treated like an adult.

A rare occurence at the footy these days here wearing a fluro green jacket and being a total tool are the only prerequisites to ruining every one else's day with your pathetic god complex....
