APEC and a Sydney home final!!!

I know that it was mentioned ages ago - but now that the end of the H & A season is fast approaching, the weekend of the first elimination final is the same weekend when the grand poobahs from the APEC countries are in town. If we are in the bottom 8 and are entitled to a home final what will happen?. Seeing as the powers that be will be wanting to avoid a big crowd of any kind (be it protesters or footy fans) being in the Sydney metro area at any time during those 3 days - I wonder what the AFL have planned. Will our "Home final" be moved to Melbourne?

The chances of George Dubya and the other cronnies taking in an "ossie rools" at Telstra Stadium are slim - however the prospect of 65,000 hot meat pies being hurled into the presidential box would be good to see if they did, but would it be considered a terrorist attack ?

Interesting qn, wardy. Would suit me if moved to Melb. (selfish I know). I'm sure it would have been discuss at AFL house, and they have a contingency plan. Like making sure Sydney, do not finish, 1-2 (Ha!) or 5-6.

Suicide Pies. We should be playing the Bombers then.

I doubt there will be any issues, just extra security.

NRL wont be moving all their finals to Brisbane for the same weekend!! it's just something they have to plan for.

Perhaps I should have said 65000 pissed off footy fans who had to get to the ground at 10am for security checking, to then hurl their pies at George Dubya because he got in five minutes before the centre bounce and got the good parking spot - tinny bastard!

I wouldn't mind throwing a Rocca or two!

As far as the venue is concerned a game at Homebush should not be an issue (the SCG would definitely be out). Of greater concern might be the airport and accommodation (esp the CBD)

well that could be to our advantage - the visiting team may have to stay in the Parklea Gardens Caravan park after coming up on the greyhound bus!! - bunk beds etc cramped conditions, bad prawns from the markets across the road - hhmmmmmmmm!!!

              Why are we hosting APEC?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Given we play Rd22 on a Sunday and George Dubya would probably have flown out by Sunday afternoon, it's a very real possibility that if we get a home final they will try to play it on Sunday afternoon.

I hope Telstra is available. A day final sounds very appealing.

I have to say that makes as much sense as any other reason I've been given

                      It is outrageous.

Both my plane and helicopter have been grounded that week.

                      The cheek of it !

Yes will be available that Sunday. NRL Minor Premiers will play their first final that day and that will be Melbourne or Manly.

If it's a Manly home final though, apparently it might not be at Brookvale becasue of something to do with the local council.

It will be there I reckon, covered by a council surcharge on each ticket. Manly wont allow that advantage to go to waste even for a greedy council.

But what about the home teams out of town supporters who may also have to resort to Greyhounding it up if the airport is closed?

PS:- I swore a couple of years ago that I'd NEVER take another Greyhound bus north of Albury again. I'd like to think I could stick to that promise.
