Which player has broken through this year??

Which player has stepped up this year??

Over the last few years we have had young players break into the side or finally develop into good players. This is what has given us that extra dimension over he last four years but i don't think we have had one this year. We have blooded a few players but they haven't been given a decent chance. My pick would be Schmit but he hasn't contributed as much as previous players who have stepped up.

    03 Schiender. Ablett,
    04 Monty, Bolton
    05 LRT, Mcviegh?? Fosdike
    06 Eski , Dempster
    07 ????

Schmit - Has looked good in the games he hs played
Grundy - Was given a go last year but has produced in the limited time this yr
Phillips ( the elf) - Looked promising in 06 but no real game time this year
Jack - limited time - no impact
Laidlaw - limited time - no impact
Jared Moore - limited time - no impact
Luke Brennan - limited time - no impact

Your examples are a bit wrong. Ablett didn't 'emerge' until '04, McVeigh didn't play in the '05 GF but Dempster did, Fosdike has been around for a lot longer than 2005, Eski has arguably 'emerged' as a top line player this year, he has certainly improved since 06.

If you use the Malceski example, Schmidt is the one who's come in and played about a dozen decent games - hopefully he'll play every game next year and kick on as Eski has done.

            Eski....

He wasn't a permanent fixture last year but has managed to entrench himself this year and become one of our most important players...

Agree with Swantastic. ESKI is still the man to hold the mantle of the break out player.

I'm just going to stick with calling him Eski, regardless of what Swantastic says

I don't think you could argue that this year's break-out player has been anyone other than Eski? Schmidt has been really good, but Eski has become an integral part of the side!

Eski was an integral part of the side last year too. He may not have been a top 5 B&F or an AA contender but his place in the best 22 was never in question. I think a slight mid-season downturn in fortunes coincided with his hamstring injury early in the Hawks game. He came straight back into the senior side once his injury was healed and never looked remotely like missing again.

I agree his rapid improvement has been a major factor in the Swans almost retaining their prior year form in the face of a drop off from other important contributors like Hall and Goodes, but I would say last year was his initial break-out year.
