    Well overdue thread......

He's been in great form over the last month arguably being BOG in the game last night and against WCE, but also contributing a lot more over the last month than he had been.

On song at the moment, hoping he keeps going....

Played very well up in the forward line, and has been playing well the last couple of games.
        Kudos to Seagull.

Well down McVeigh on 3 important goals, particularly your one hander in the last quarter!
          Swannies for life!

He's shown enough glimpses over the last few years for us to know that what he did yesterday (and against the Eagles) was no fluke. Just imagine if he could reproduce those skills every week.

That second kick for goal was sublime - I'd given him no chance of nailing that but it never looked like missing.

              Where's Ernie Koala?

As a stalwart defender of Triple M (Much Maligned McVeigh) I have to say that I'm not as convinced about his form over the last month as some. Up forward he seems confident and dangerous, but when he plays as a defensive midfielder he seems to second-guess himself and frequently doesn't attack the ball when he has a clear opportunity to do so.

His snap to open our scoring was 1st class, I'd like to see him predominately in the forward half. Defensive types often don't get recognised for the jobs they do on opposition threats and Triple M has certainly suffered in that respect, but he seems a far more confident player when he's inside 50.

BTW, was that G. Healy who kept referring to him as "Mark" McVeigh?
I was wrong about Gerard and his hair.

Your "arguably BOG's" to McVeigh are way off.
We lost to WCE, and ROK was easily our best anyway, followed by Kirky, Goodsey etc. etc, McVeigh was on the iceman for some of that game
C Bolton was easily BOG last night. Followed by Monty, Ted, Goodsie etc etc.
McVeigh has finally given us a servicable game . 3 goals and a handful of possessions is exactly what a good half forward should be doing. But until he does it consistantly, (ie: more than once in 50 odd games ), he won't be in that group.

Clearly one of our best - amazing what the lad can do with a bit of confidence. The juggled mark + clincal set shot finish in Q4 was the most unlikely combo I'd have expected to see in the JMcV highlight reel 6 weeks ago.

And yes, I think it was a 'wishful thinking' Gerard Healy.

Like most of our players, he has been down on form this season. IMO, not as far down as some would have him (defensive type whose work on opposition threats is downplayed), but certainly down.

But no good games in 50? Equal 10th in Skilton Medal last year? Yes. 21 goals last year from a predominately defensive player? Yes. Most Improved last year? I think so, not sure.

Leave Mark McVeigh at the Bombers, IMO.

Bit of a bookend game for Jared. 2 goals early and one late and it could be argued he set us up and finished them off.

His highest goal tally ever is ...3.....last night. What I said was... he should be doing that a lot more than once, if he is to be regarded as a good forward.
To call him better than his brother Mark , is laughable.

Thanks for your insight... misguided as it is....

McV more than broke even when he was on Cousins... I think you'll find that he actually out posessed him!!

Bolton was easily BOG last night and Teddy finally did something good. But the fact that McV was able to score 3 goals, that critical one in the last quarter which effectively ended any chance of StKilda winning and then followed that play up with an immediate clearance putting us back into attack, was the mark of a quality contributor/player.

I've bagged the crap out of McV consistantly until that game against WCE. Since then he has gone up a notch and is now delivering quality performances.
