    The God Delusion

Frighteningly, I note a news story tonight that suggests that christian-style evangelical gatherings that are bothering sports events in the USA may be heading our way. Talks are apparently underway with Soccer and AFL.

    Be afraid.

    Be very afraid.

We had the Hillsong women's conference at Telstra the day of the Port pre-season match. Never seen the line at the bar so short and the line for coffee sooooooo long.

Did anyone watch The Fundamentalists on Ch 2 the previous two Sunday nights? Religion is a very very scary concept, made worse by the loony extremists! It's something that belongs in pre-modern times, not in the 21stC.

What is the definition of a religion? Yes, dictionaries have their meaning but to me it could simply be...

"One or more group of people holding a similar belief or view in or on something".

All of us here (most of here) follow the swans passionately, are we a religion?

Well, that might qualify us as a "cult" - though in a cult, one generally holds the view that people will do what you tell them ... I doubt that we could tell either the players or Swans supporters to follow ANY orders!!!

Should we expect the Saints membership to rise, and the Demons membership to dramatically fall???

Yet another thing to blame Islam for. When I was a lad, nobody gave a @@@@ about religion in Australia...yet here we are riding the wave of Christianity.

                  Of course not!

Religion, as referred to in this case, is not a similar belief on 'something' - it's a fundamental set of beliefs and practices about the nature of life and the universe.

Yep, very good, and scary series.

I think it proves that organised religion is for simple people who like to be told what to do and how to behave. Then , as a result of their ardent nature, take silly outdated notions literally and go to extremes.

Islamic terrorists, anti-abortionists the list of loonies is endless

would it mean compulsory communion at the quarter and halftime breaks?
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I hope so, even that would taste slightly less dry than the fish they serve up normally.
