    RWO Apology

Sorry about the unexpected downtime yesterday and Sunday morning.

Apparently, we are using too much CPU in the early hours of the morning when no one is online. But during game time when there is a high load we don't.

They want us to move from the shared server, which we pay $ for to a dedicated server which we'd pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for. This is not an option.

So, in the mean time we have disabled some of the functionality of RWO Forum, and the home pages to see if this reduces the load. Further tweaks will take place over the next week or so. Hopefully you will not notice most of the changes, but if you do, please let us know.

We are also about to start the search for a new web host.

If anyone can recommend a host that can cope with a vBulletin forum + homepage, please drop Frog or myself a line.

Hopefully we can keep the site going until the end of the season.

That doesn't sound right to be honest Scott. Unless we are getting hammered by spammers or hackers at off peak times (how considerate of them) or something. A vB forum isn't THAT processor intensive I would have thought, especially one that is as "small" as we are.

Yeah, look for an alternative. Just because they were good value for me 3 years ago doesn't mean they are ideal now.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

We are confused by this as well. They have given us little information to go by, and the twice it happened was early morning. I have made some tweaks this morning, and things seem a little quicker.

Even during our busiest times, we have had nothing worse than a slow response time. What I don't get is that they give us(and other clients) these massive allowances of Bandwidth, storage, Mysql db's, which we use relatively small amounts of, but it is the cpu% that is killing us.

The site is still excellent value. I suspect the sort on the stats page may have killed us yesterday. I clicked the sort button, and got the suspended page in response. This may be coincidental, but it is the best lead we have. I have disabled the sort function, so if my guess is correct, it should not happen again. Ha!, famous last words.

        We'll wait and see.

BTW. The dedicated server is $US259/mo. Just ridiculous.

Out of interest who pays for this site? That is how do you obtain funds to pay for it?

I hope that doesn't mean that either of you is out of pocket? If so let's know, and to what extent. That's a legitimate bill too in my book.

No. Not out of pocket currently.

What about that raffle? I'll buy tickets.

Good to have RWO back. Thanks for all your work.
