Sounds like a close one. LRT conspicuous in his absence from the best lists.

He was originally tagged as the travelling emergency but then Roos said he would play in Canberra and he was listed in the squad on the Swans site before the game. Unless you have other info?Comment

Notice Matt Davis making a late (very very late, like 3 years late) dip for the line. Would be interested to hear a report on his performance by anyone there.
Matt Davis' apparent good performance has got me thinking about how our seeming success in bringing rookies through, has created a nightmare of list management on an already-pressured list. A team has to turn over a minimum 3 players a year from its senior list; and has to take at least 3 draft picks. Promoted rookies put more pressure on the senior list; a promoted rookie is just another senior player who has to be cut (or retire/be traded).
So, the following doesn't quite add up numbers-wise:- only (sorry) Donk more likely than not to get chopped among mid- or older-aged players (name the last man who, without retiring, played his last game of league footy in a grand final);
- nobody looking like retiring (2 or 3 might be pressured into 'shock' retirements, though);
- Ryan Brabazon starring in the seconds pretty consistently, when at the start of the year he would've been a short-priced favourite for the axe;
- Cheese, Brennan and Jack all lining up to be possible permanent promotions;
- among other rookies, the club obviously seeing something in M. Davis and Rowe, and being desperately light-on for backup rucks if it does cut Doyle, making it very difficult to chop Shaw.
There's a lot of hype about trading, but a long period of history suggests that a maximum of one Sydney player will be sent away in a trade deal at the end of the year; so that will only relieve a small amount of pressure.
If those shock forced-retirements don't come, it could easily be a hard-knock life for a number of Thornton, Moore, Simpkin and even Phillips, Vogels and Grundy, come the end of the year. (Although, for the love of god, please not Dempster.)Comment

someone like phillips might get delisted with sydney taking the chance they they can redraft him on the rookie list..........we are going to have a swag off players retiring around the same time in the next few years and we all no Sydney don't like doing a total rebuild so this trade season could be quite interesting and even a few asked to retire.Comment

What's the go with delisting players who are still contracted for a year or two.Is it a case of trying for a trade and if that fails do we have to pay out the contract?
We can't just delist a large number of reserves players as many of them are our future.We have a few ageing players in our team.Comment

It will be interesting to see how many premiership credits he's got in the bank.
The reality is that he's missed 75% of the past 2 seasons so has provided no value whatsoever over that time.
Bevan it would appear has been groomed for his role and Jack can probably do the same.
If we need to chop some small to mid sized players to keep a few more talls on the list, then Crouch must be close to the top of the list.
It will be a test for Roos because the AFL is littered with examples of clubs who hang on to fading stars too long at the expense of regenerating their list.
In this case a dignified retirement might be in order, though I suspect Crouch will want to play on."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

The Swans went on to kick another four goals and kept Eastlake to one. Jonathan Simpkin, Matthew O?Dwyer, Earl Shaw and top-up player Breust each kicked a goal for the Swans.
Brabazon was again one of the best in the Reserves, after just two years on the Swans? list, while Davis and Moore also made the Swans? best. Phillips, with two goals, Crouch and Vogels were also impressive.
The Swans need two more wins to end the season undefeated and next week, Saturday August 25, they take on Tuggeranong at Greenway Oval at 2pm.cheersComment
