    Faulks Rumour

I have heard 3rd hand that he is not injured but has been suspended by the swans for the rest of the season as a result of poor fitness and attitude.

Apparently his relaxed attitude to football has always been well known.

Did he play in the reserves on the weekend?

If true this is a terrible piece of recruiting by the swans as he wasn't highly rated on talent.

    Can anyone verify this?

    He was an Essendon fan.

That's his goose cooked for me.

Can't verify the rumour, but at selection 65 he would have had a less than 20% chance of playing AFL anyway, so no great loss.

As for recruiting our use of the rookie list looks very promising at present, giving us real value.

How long has Stephen Doyle got then? I wish I could turn up to work and be 'sick' for 4-5 years on end.

At a guess if this is true, the amount of work they must put into players fitness and building of stamina it wouldn't surprise me if someone cant handle the pace. Only the survival of the fittest at the Swans.

In addition you would have to have a strong mind to cut at AFL level. The mental ability to overcome the challenges would have to be enormous.

They get a two year contract but, despite the AFLPA's attempts to get those two year's guaranteed, some players have been cut after just one (not by the Swans, to the best of my memory). The Bombers cut Austin Lucy at the end of last season just one year after he was drafted. A club has to pay the second year though (unless the player has clearly breached the terms of his contract).

No idea on the truth of this rumour but you'd think that if any player and club do come to the conclusion after just a year that the player has no real desire to continue, there's little point in drawing things out for another year. Particularly if it were to cost someone like Sam Rowe or Kristen Thornton another year on the list.
